Looting after the apocalypse is gonna be so freaking cool

It’s the year 2037 some Chinese dude ate an unknown shroom from some bat filled cave in Thailand and turned into a zombie. The virus spreads through blood to blood contact and saliva. Anyway when everyone is dead and I’m not because I’m chronically inside in the winter and wouldn’t even notice what happened until I start smelling al the dead and rotting zombies in the streets. I would go absolutely wild on shopping lmao just going into royal castles to take a shit on the throne before I snatch that crown. I can get unlimited food and some chickens?!? Steal some nice cars and find a house like, start exploring stuff and live in the wilderness. Maybe find some other people. I live in a country with no guns but I have a bow and arrow and a pellet gun so I’m safer than most people.

The idealistic model that this person has created is not how the apocalypse wpuld be. Things would be fucked. Animals would not be company, they would be food. Just as they are food for many now.

People have almost hard enough times as it is trying to keep chickens with predators. Imagine a world where the predator population explodes because they have essentially free food to munch on with all the people lying dead in the streets.

More predators = more food. We don’t have bears or anything huge like that. We’ve got birds and boars which are easy kill

Yeah why not? I mean there is a store nearby that sells water filters and it’s not that hard to boil and collect water. You have chickens for meat and eggs and maybe a few goats. You can wash clothes with the trillions of liters of soap that are in all stores. And heating isn’t a problem since there is endless amounts of wood and fuel to use. I don’t think it would be that bad for me. I mean I can never enjoy McDonald’s or see a movie or stream music but I can sit in a chair with some chickens, goats and a dog in silence.

Sure if you have unlimited time and resources. Gathering food is a task. One bad season after all premade food is expired and you're essentially starving.

You can just go to the remote wilderness now. The problem is you'd quickly die of starvation, thirst, disease and the environment. There's a good reason humans left the wilderness to form societies even with all the conflict, inequality and injustice.

I did when I was a scout, spent weeks alone in the woods even hunted rabbits and found blackberries. I was fine then and IIl probably be fine now

Everything will break within a few years. Food will run out and spoil. Not to mention electricity, water and fuels. You'll just starve and die of disease and exposure like they did 2 centuries ago. Also some conflict with other starving and crazy people.

Almost every single skyscraper on a coast line would collapse too. The foundation is constantly pumping out ground water with electricity. Navigating the cities would be a death trap if there were ever a natural disaster.

Life for Homo sapiens without some form of civilization is extremely dangerous and likely deadly. It’s why we banded together in small groups early in our development, and eventually came up with the idea of civilization, despite how much we seem to hate it. Unless the food you’re looting is well preserved, if you eat it unwittingly you’d get sick and probably die since there’s no medical facility you could go to. The chickens that you do manage to catch may be infected as well, if they’re not already dead. The cars might be fine, but gas stations wouldn’t be working, nor would the power grid. Your first joyride may be your last. Your freedom of movement would also be severely restricted by the fact of zombies and widespread plagues. Not just the infection that started the zombie apocalypse, but the myriad of new plagues seething the planet as it oozes the pus and decay of several billion corpses and mass extinction. Simply breathing may be hazardous because of what’s in the air. Good luck.
