I need to stop dragging ass on this ADM lower build I started last year, been distracted and didn’t realize prices were going up this much. BCM MK2 be good for a gucci-ish build? Most likely going with a DD upper and an Omega 300 can fwiw

The consensus in AR15 is this: if you already have a build, it isn’t usually worth converting from carbine/rifle system to VLTOR A5/BCM MK2, but you are still working on a build, it is objectively superior to use the VLTOR A5/BCM MK2 system. The same guy designed both, the BCM MK2 system is slightly better as it has a more robust biasing spring.
Just search “BCM MK2” on Lanbo’s site, they have kits for ~$100 that include the buffer tube, spring, buffer, castle nut, and end plate. If you aren’t running suppressed consider the T1, if are using a can get the T2 or T3.

They’re right. China is I believe the largest exporter of Tungsten and since November it’s gone up about 2.5x

FWIW I've never been able to over buffer a suppressed AR by weight alone and I make my own 7.4oz buffers. Only good things happen with more weight IMO, never bad.

VLTORs a5 weights suck tbh. You can hear the weights moving during cycling. BCM mk2 is the way to go. Designed by the guy that made the A5 for VLTOR but has marginal improvements. Also typically around the same price, maybe a couple bucks more depending on the retailer. FWIW

I've felt like a crazy person saying the Vltor ones are meh compared to BCM, when they invented it. The spring inside just seems too weak to consistently push the heavier weight stacks (A5H3/H4) forward when the buffer is just sitting horizontal. Which means they're not always forward biased like they're supposed to be.

Tungsten powder doesn't dead blow like a solid, sliding buffer weight does. Dead blow buffers are better at reducing bolt bounce, though that's not really an issue on a semi auto 5.56 AR.

A lot of places still have BCM's Mark 2 Mod 1 T1-4 buffers at the same price as last year. They are compatible with all A5 buffer set ups. I like them better since the weights don't raddle as much. Their version of an A5H3 is still $55-60.
