When the u16 social media ban is implemented will ID be required to simply watch youtube videos or only if you want to log in?

I assumed it would be like in Australia - you need ID for an account but can still watch any non adult video. But I've heard the UK may block access to the site entirely without ID, I don't know.

VPN's will be age gated, many companies that offer vpn's won't even care though so I wouldn't worry.

No one knows. That said YT already has a restricted mode for work places, schools, kids etc. The easiest implementation would be to enforce that until people pass whatever checks are required.

No one knows yet. There is no legislation, there hasn't even been the proposed consultation yet. You'll just have to wait and see.
