Not particularly. You major cost items are going to be the bag (for good quality easily $30-50), the tourniquet ($30-35 for a real CAT - which I would absolutely justify spending the money on), and the quikclot gauze, which is around $40-50 retail. The other stuff is mostly filler, but for $220 for the combat gauze version AFTER the discount, you could build your own with either more stuff or cheaper. Where this is good is that it isn’t junk, it’s not the knockoff shit you’ll find on Amazon, it’s a real CAT and SWAT tourniquet (ignore my R.A.S. Syndrome), actual hemostatic dressing, quality bag. But things you should care about on duty, patrol, or in combat differ hugely in daily life, and you can save money where it makes sense to do so, without cheapening out where it doesn’t.

Right. And you can easily get a medical bag of a size that fits off of amazon. I did that and have a little more room but I have a good solid trauma IFAK, a wound closure kit (the zip-style ones that anyone can use) and some basic first aid (soon to supplement with more) and it's always in my car in case I need it.

Unless you're a trained medical professional, you really shouldn't be using a decomp needle. They're really easy to cause much more damage than good. Do you know which side of the ribs has blood vessels and nerves? Or which intercostal spaces should be used, and how to find them, as well as how deep you can go? They're also cheap enough on their own you can add one to a kit pretty easily.
Plus, new trainings are actually shifting towards finger thoracostomy as the preferred treatment over decomp needles.

I was trained in the military to do decomp, and I will say there is nothing else that I felt less confident in doing if I had to even after being trained. Luckily I never had to.
