They will move Dallas City Hall to Arlington, next to the Cowboys Stadium (I will never say At&t Stadium).

Then why did you just say it? I would’ve gone with “the corporate sponsor we do not speak of” or something…

You literally just said it (AT&T Stadium)

I really hope Preservation Dallas sues the city and AECOM.  I will donate to their legal fund.

Anything. Just hold it up in courts for long thought so that voters a say.

Did City Council ever explain why the city kicked the can down the road for decades neglecting the building’s maintenance? They should’ve been on top of it and now the city is making a terrible choice because of past bad choices. Also they could literally put all of the costs in a bond up for voters and it would pass because Dallas voters approved every bond measure last time lol even when some of them were completely unnecessary

They kicked the can down the road because they wanted to pay for other stuff first.  But there is no possible way there is a $1Billion in repairs needed.  That's hundreds of millions more than it took to reconstruct Notre Dame.

I’m a little confused, yesterday was just a briefing. Where are you seeing they voted to sell?
View on Reddit #79194114

YaGetSkeeted0n@reddit

They voted to recommend to the council to direct the city manager to move 911/311/EOC and other staff to a new government center and to evaluate options for redevelopment of the site. Again it’s a committee so all it does is recommendations.

They would have to do that whether they sell or make the fixes. So OPs title is a little misleading.

Correct. Although the impression I got was that it was more of a permanent relocate, not temporary, but the motion was pretty vague

Don't forget, City Council hates you and doesn't want you to have Public life. They also want to tease down the Central Library. They want you to pay for everything outside your front door. They don't want protest spaces, they don't want the public to have access to them and they don't want the people seeing anything in this city as 'OURS', as in for the people of Dallas. Everything is a commodity and every person just exists to extract more money. These people would sell every one of us to a compost company for pennies if it'd mean they have less work to do.

cant help but wonder if all of these companies were to be blocked out from any of the work as it is a huge conflict of interest, if their "assessment" would be the same. Same thing Ft Worth did, come in with a BS high cost to do upgrades to justify a new building. As well, like FT Worth, when they get around to doing a new building it will blow past any costs they projected because of ... you know ... unforeseen conditions.

This is absolutely infuriating for so many reasons.

This is sad. Now we can build a new building and neglect it to repeat the process.

Dallas just loves shiny things. Well, we got 2 out of 3 shiny bridges. Maybe we can get 2 out of 3 shiny city halls?

stoic_spaghetti@reddit

this is just a handout for some developer contract to build a new building
