Oh definitely. My last grandparent just died recently, and hearing all of these stories and realizing my folks are now in that later stage of life (mid 70s) is giving me real anxiety.
I have one surviving grandparent. Step-grandparent, really. But she's 93 and I'm 46 and I'm about exactly half her age. But she can barely get around. Needs lots of assistance. Has Alzheimer's and can't really form thoughts longer than 3 words anymore. That's what I'd be lucky to have if I get to double my lifespan. But I don't want to be halfway done with life and significantly PAST that milestone 'living well' is a meaningful metric.
Time fucking sucks.
That really sucks to hear. Alzheimers is a truly horrible disease. Best we can do is take care of ourselves and hope we'll be in decent shape by that stage.
Feel ya. My parents are turning 72 and 73 this August and I feel sick in my heart every time I read something like this. Also very afraid my father might end himself, as he's having increasing memory issues, and watched his father die of Alzheimer's.
Right? In the '80s my mom used to rent a second VCR so we could dub movies, this was one of many. I watched it way too many times before the age of 10 hahaha
We had a pirated copy in either the late 80's or early 90's and it was on heavy rotation. Not sure why my parents didn't limit access to it.
I remember being upstairs and hearing my younger brother watching it downstairs. "We've got bush!" <VCR rewinding sounds> "We've got bush!" <VCR rewinding sounds> "We've got bush! VCR rewinding sounds>....over and over!
I loved that he and Curtis Armstrong had a reality show as it was nice seeing those guys again, but older.
He'll always be one of my favorite actors to come from the 80s as the Revenge of the Nerds, while I saw too young, made me less ashamed to be a nerd and I flew that flag high with my new sense of confidence
2025 was brutal for celebrity deaths. 2026 seems to be continuing this awful trend. The in memoriam at the Oscars is going to be an hour long at this point.

I’m old enough now that any death under 80 is scary and really drives the point home when they are wealthy where ie expect they have good diet and healthcare.
