Every medicine on the market needs to be licensed, for example Paracetamol 500mg Tablets Manufactured by Accord are licensed with the Product License number PL 00142/1249 & 1262. The parent comment in this chain if referring to the cost of getting this license from the MHRA, HPRA or EMEA as would be the case in ROI. The first reply that I commented on says that Paracetamol doesn't need a license, which is not true - otherwise why would hundreds of these companies pay, and go through all of the requirements to put a paracetamol product on the market. You are thinking that license in this thread is referring to a patent protected molecule being licensed out to other manufacturers by its patent holder - which is a completely different concept and not relevant to this whole thread at all. Yes, any proper drug manufacturer can, but ONLY AFTER they have applied for a marketing authorisation from the MHRA, HPRA, EMEA etc, and been issued with a product license number for that product.
