My PC 2009/2010
Posted by Baconmaster2890@reddit | retrobattlestations | View on Reddit | 70 comments
I forget the actual date, I think may of been closer to 2010. So I was either 19 or 20
Specs from memory was (no idea on the motherboard, ASUS clearly)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
4GB RAM
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770
808GB HDD
Logitech X-540 (still use them today on my retro PC).
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Also had a Chuck Norris sticker on the side saying if you open the case up he'd get ya (basically)

Hahaha, sorry I hadn't seen this comment sooner!
Storm__master@reddit
was the HD5770 pretty high end back then?
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
a popular mid-range (mainstream) graphics card when it was released in October 2009

I still have possibly the same corner desk at my dad’s house lol.
Corner desks are pretty cool
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Haha that's awesome. I wish I still had it I think I ended up not taking it/throwing it out around 2012 or so.
TheGillos@reddit
CENTER channel. Lol.
I had that case and CPU. But I had a 8800GTS then 8800GT SLI, then 9800 GTX+ SLI.
I really liked changing up my GPUs in those days.
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Yeah I had it off on the side due to back in the day with MSN I would webcam (my monitor has inbuilt one) but would pop it back on after not using it (sometimes)
meryl_gear@reddit
Could you put it under, like by the keyboard?
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
That would of been a more logical way, I may of just not when I took this photo but who knows I was 19/20 so pretty stupid back then xD
wheresthetux@reddit
The corner desk is the tits.. I mean you made the breast of the space you had to work with.

johncate73@reddit
That looks similar to a case I had in that same time period, but a little later because it was running an Phenom X6 and later an FX-8350 (which was a waste of money because the Phenom was just as fast).
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Nice, its a solid case!
ColonelBungle@reddit
I had that desk in the 90s.
DavidLaderoute@reddit
What pc??
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)

Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)

Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)

LukasLuchtloper@reddit
I had a fairly similar build! Worked my first job to pay for it. The case is a Antec 900, made for literally the coolest PC I've ever owned.
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Haha same to be honest, I was a little short as I got laid off for the store not picking up business but my friend was cool enough to allow me to get it a bit cheaper. Yep it sure is, when I got the next upgrade (2011) I got the same line of case (but 2 models up, the full tower one - the name has escaped my memory at the moment).
66659hi@reddit
The Antec 1200?
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Yep that's the one
cmmatthews@reddit
2010 is retro? Yikes. I feel old.
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Maybe lol, I think because the world feels much different from back in that time it feels "older" than it actually is. 16/17 years ago
RentAscout@reddit
Remember hearing Nirvana on classic radio and thinking, damn I must be old listening to radio.
ArmadilloLoose6699@reddit
Nice! That was pretty much the bedroom setup of every straight guy I knew at university. :D
I sadly didn't get into PC gaming myself a few years after graduation, when I was finally feeling flush with cash and able to afford a decent gaming rig. Around 2009/10 I was probably dual-booting Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7 on a Sony VAIO laptop and mostly played Halo: Reach online with an XBOX 360.
Darkangel-86@reddit
I had similar posters :D very nice haha.
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Haha I wish I still had them, a WWE one and one from a magazine (Zoo Weekly it was called here)
Darkangel-86@reddit
Hell yeah! Good stuff man! I miss the old days!
LeakPimp@reddit
good ole antec 900, proper bang for the buck case
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
100%
Sellingstolenmeats@reddit
Fuck yeah I had that exact same desk on my bedroom! It makes me miss my old XP Dell machine, played many many hours of Battlefield 1942 on that bad boy. Thanks for sharing
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Nice! I was rocking XP back then too until this upgrade came along. I bought the mobo, ram and CPU off a UK friend as I didn't have money for a new upgrade and it helped him upgrade. I was rockin a P4 I believe and I wasn't able to play games like Assassins Creed and Prototype where I knew from my friend it would run those fine lol.
Sellingstolenmeats@reddit
That's so awesome, I kinda miss how Hodgepodge old PC building was. I remember my first real graphics card upgrade, it was like a 7800 or something. And I had to hacksaw the back of the case to cause it wouldn't fit. And it just sort of flopped out the back of the PC for like 8 years hahaha. I also remember a friend having dual SLI, and the cards were that weird transparent plastic in red, with the cartoony hot wheels flames on them. I just remember the combined VRAM being like 800Mb or something
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
Hahaha yeah it was a different time! I had a friend who had a little dell PC of some sort and he bought the GPU and then found out it wasn't going to fit - did a similar job to you hahaha but hey it works!
Oh nice that sounds cool, haha reminds me of that hot wheels PC from the 90s or early 2000s
AutomaticAffect4333@reddit
The board might be the Asus p5n-e sli ASUS P5N-E SLI - The Retro Web https://share.google/YPqljyUG9Z6uAYa5K
Baconmaster2890@reddit (OP)
I think you could be right, the name looks familiar as well as looking like it from memory.
