Who would you like to win the 2026 World Cup, if and when England get eliminated?

To me, any country but Scotland. I just think it will lead to more sectarianism and I say this as someone with many Scottish relatives. Happy for them to win a World Cup or Euros, but not yet.

Portugal is a fair shout mate, better them than the Scots anyway. But truth is England aren't winning a thing unless they stop wasting the talent of the Liverpool lads and actually start playing them properly. As long as England get fucked out in, say, the semis I'll be happy.

Hopefully the Scots, USA and Argentina are knocked out early.

I’m buzzing for it , i fuckimg love the banter, it’s coming home.

I'd like to see Japan do well, the bits I've seen of them over the last couple of years, for me they look like a really competent football team , that game against Brazil where they won 3-2 back end of last year was really entertaining.

Not to mention, Japan have been involved in some dogfight matches over the last two world cups.
They almost knocked out Belgium in 2018, before running out of steam. They also gave Germany and Spain a tough test by beating them both in the group of death in Qatar 2022.

Apart from England winning, I would love to see Austria or Japan have a deep run, and knocking the USA out along the way. Also, I want to see Argentina get beaten by Austria, and have them getting knocked out in the round of 32.

Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, or Uzbekistan. Gotta cheer on the underdogs, and these guys are even WorldCup noobs.

I love seeing new countries in the world cup, and I think with the 48 team version they should reserve a couple of slots for the highest-ranked countries never to have played at the world cup before, so we're always guaranteed new teams.

Would be nice if it were Greenland (and no, they didn't qualify)

Holland
Or, someone who is a long shot but not completely out of the question like Japan or Mexico

It’s mad how scotland are going to batter everyone
musicallymotivated93@reddit
Yeah well if they're going to batter their opposition, it's going to be hard for them to do anything once they've been deep fried.
Big-Scallion3644@reddit
They only thing they will be battering will be a mars bar

Croatia. So Luka Modric can finally retire and take up his rightful post as King of the Croats.

Senegal are going to be hard to beat. Best team England have played for years.

Holland
Probably the best footballing country never to win it.
Or Portugal.
segundovolante7@reddit
I don't think we need to worry about Scotland winning the world cup let's be realistic now.
Not saying we will either, but there's at least a non-zero chance of that.
Big-Scallion3644@reddit
I was so gutted Scotland didn’t get drawn in our group
segundovolante7@reddit
I wasn't because Brazil v Scotland is always a great vibe and honestly? I don't rate home internationals as much as I used to growing up. We get so many of them now.
Big-Scallion3644@reddit
I do hope you do the, , imagine if we get to play in the knockouts!
MattWillGrant@reddit
I don't believe Portugal have a team in the currently ongoing World Cup.
