Does anyone have any experience with Negative Dilute Drug screening results?

So I got a job at an airline and I was told to drink plenty of water before the drug screening so I could produce a sample on the spot. I did and I showed up, everything is normal and then the collector mentioned my urine being pretty clear with a slight yellow tint. Said I may need to be retested because of a negative dilute. Obviously this sent me down a rabbit hole and I am just wondering if it is standard practice for an airline to rescind an offer because of a negative dilute? I would be happy to re-test if it comes to that as I have nothing to hide. I don't have the results yet but I am spiraling at the thought of losing my dream job because I was hydrated.

No I’ve just gone down the rabbit hole and there’s rare instances of a CJO being rescinded for a diluted negative. My anxiety tends to focus on rare probabilities haha

I was in the same boat as you when I had to test for my current job. Chugged a bunch of water because I didn’t have to go and I was 20 mins out from the testing place. By the time I got there I was dancing. Had to wait some more once I got there. I was in legit pain I had to pee so bad. Needless to say when I finally did it was crystal clear. I was kinda tweaking out that I might have just blown the job because I drank too much water for a week or two. But I have my job still so you should too!

You’ll be alright. The people collecting the samples don’t really have much say on the testing itself. They just check boxes on temperature and color.

I had a similar situation. I went in for my drug screening and the lady did not follow the instructions (which clearly said I needed a split sample, so two separate cups). She was only going to do one until I insisted and showed her the directions again. Unfortunately for me, and by my own stupidity, I didn't fill the cup all the way up even though I could have filled like 5 cups because I had to go so bad, that I had to sit there for an hour drinking water to pee again because there wasn't enough in my first sample. I was nervous that it was going to come back diluted because I had to drink all that water but I never heard anything about it.

Dilution indicators are more used in concert with other considerations (eg targeted testing because of complaints, post incident, contentious claims by others, etc), and then go up to hair samples. People take diuretics to make use of performance enhancing drugs and things like that.

From what I’ve heard, you need to drink a LOT of water to mask an actual positive drug test. I mean to the point where it’s not healthy at all. I got a diluted negative drug test when I was playing college fb and nobody really cared about it. The guy at the trainer office said that it’s super rare for diluted tests to actually pass as positive

I did the same. I had to piss SO bad and they didn’t do the stupid test until after we’d been there a few hours so I was dying. My pee was crystal clear man not a speck of yellow, there’s no shot that wasn’t a diluted sample, I’ve had those in previous jobs cause I drink a lot of water. This was over a year ago, never heard anything and I still work here so 🤷‍♂️ Also my wife works in HR and tells me half her employees are “negative dilute” and they accept that as a pass

I get it man, anxiety is crazy 😂 My buddy got random drug tested not long ago and he texted us freaking out “dude I’ve been using a lot of zyns lately do you think that’ll make me fail??” After laughing my ass off I let him know, no, you won’t fail for nicotine brother lmao

Dilute forensic urines are not reported as positive. They would simply have you come back and do another test. Over hydration is a common thing because people want to make sure they can pee so this scenario happens. If you have multiple dilute urines the drug testing companies should have some type of escalation algorithm that might include referring you to a kidney doctor. Don’t stress at all about this. It’s no biggie if your urine comes back dilute.
