Get the sbl instead of either... gets you a top rail and threaded barrel with classic laminate furniture. If you really want tactical features, get furniture from ranger point tactical.... it's miles better than what comes on the dark model... and if you're not gonna stick mlok quivers all over your gun, the sbl still allows you to mount an optic and a light to the gun whereas the trapper doesn't have out of the box optic mounting.

it's just a configuration difference. The trapper has a large circle ghost ring style sight while the sbl has an optic ready top rail and a half ring u shaped rear sight.

I am in the same boat. I want the dark series, but looks like you can buy handguards and such to modify these.
Though, those cost hundreds....so I think its probably a negligible difference cost wise in the end.

This, and then get yourself the RPP or Midwest handguard. The stainless is moh bettah. The stock is personal preference but there are better aftermarket options out there.

Depends on what you want in a gun. Modern looking with “tactical” features or timeless design. fwiw I just got a 357 trapper and I love it. I’m considering adding a pic rail, red dot, and suppressor at some point, but for now I like it the way it is. Furniture on the trapper looks better than the SBL imo.
