ngl I'm not a fan of Glock pmags because of how thick the baseplate is. It's chonky, and I think it looks bad lol. Also all the gpmags I've had have been a pita to load past like, the 10th round, meanwhile Glock mags are super easy to load up til the final round. You're right though, they are reliable. I've never had any kind of failure with a gpmag

If they're for range/practice then they're perfect. If they aren't reliable then they're perfect for practicing failure drills. Idk, like I said mine haven't given me problems before, but I stick to OEM Glock for carrying.

Because they’re pretty dang reliable. Their AR mags are top of the line, only rivaled by quality steel/aluminum mags, but for the military those metal mags get used past the point where they’re gtg and end up with reliability issues from bent/damaged feed lips. Pmags tend to break when they get to that point, which is actually a pro since they don’t have that issue of getting old and unreliable.
For the Glock mags and GL9 mags, it’s hit or miss if you get a good GL9 and Glock mags aren’t that much more expensive. So instead of getting 10 gl9 mags for $100 and needing to vet the good ones and remove the bad ones, you could get 5 Glock mags and be 100% gtg

I mainly attribute it to their GL9 mags not having metal feed lips. I've noticed some of my GL9's feed lips spreading out if they are left fully loaded. My glock mags have never had that issue. That metal is probably where Magpul is saving money to be a bit cheaper.

Oh I 100% agree, I fear they’ve fallen for a sort of sunk cost fallacy where they’ve invested so much into them that they don’t want to change them too drastically, but also they don’t want to admit one of their long standing products wasn’t the best.
It’s really one of Magpul’s few bad products imo (and it’s not even that bad, it just needs a solid V2)

Same as magpul ak mags. They nailed a home run on the pmags. Others are decent but not really much cheaper than factory glock mags or surplus ak mags so why even risk it.

Funny enough, when I was deep into AK stuff, I bought just about every steel surplus mag I could find, and still to this day do not own a magpul AK mag. I always heard they were great, always meant to buy one, but I could buy two surplus mags for the price of one new magpul and it just never happened.

If you're shooting supers, the 5.56 mags work just fine. You may run into issues with higher grain rounds in the 5.56 mags.

Yes. The 5.56 will still MOSTLY work, but you'll for sure have feeding issues on subs.

Only if they're supersonic (typically 110-150 grains). The Lancer ones were made for subsonic rounds (190+ grains).
