Had anybody pre purchased the TM-B launch edition from ALSO? It will be my first e-bike. They’re supposed to ship in early April. So stoked.

I preordered a launch edition and just got a random UPS email about a delivery arriving tomorrow. Had to do some digging but was able to figure out that the sender is Also - although it's only a 2 pound package so definitely not the actual bike. My guess is they are sending out some swag to people who preordered?

It was just a hat lol

Cute launch edition foundation black hat. Just a fun little thing for early buyers. Looking forward to getting my bike delivery fulfillment email any day (those emails go out in April) with delivery starting some day in May (last day of spring is May 31st and deliveries are stated to start late spring). I love ebikes. I've been riding bikes for decades, but an ebike helps me go farther each day without being totally exhausted at the end of the day. Makes each journey more enjoyable. Ride well.

Interesting machine, but strange calling it a "bike" when the pedals aren't what move it. It feels to me like an electric scooter with an idiosyncratic charging system.
derache123@reddit
Yeah, I think it would be more accurately described as an electric scooter or moped with a bicycle emulation system, lol. I like the concept though, I think there's a lot of potential. I have a launch edition on order and am looking forward to taking delivery.

ALSO just announced TM-B finished validation builds and is now in full production. Launch Edition buyers will get a delivery info email in April. Deliveries occured late spring. The last day of spring is May 31. So, bikes in garages starting sometime in May. Good times. Perfect mate for my R1T Tri. Woohoo, indeed.

I was gonna get it but the color and monthly subscription were turn offs. If the feedback of the launch bikes are good i may order one.
Checkerboard2017@reddit
Monthly subscription?
sporms@reddit
Yeah to access features like the gps security
lallenw@reddit
Yes. Where did you see the communication regarding April shipments? Super excited, but it’s been radio silent.
Odd_Outlandishness11@reddit
I was able to test drive one today at the rivian showroom in austin and it was amazing.
they did say shipping will begin late may-June
maj19460@reddit
Did they say if that was for the launch edition or the premium version which I think comes after?
Odd_Outlandishness11@reddit
launch edition only

I saw a YT video where a higher up at ALSO. says bikes start to ship in April.
Dangerous_Pop8730@reddit
Share link to video please.
StevenComedy@reddit (OP)
No idea. Random YT video about the chips being used in the bike.
reddit_mike@reddit
Yep pretty stoked as well! Looking forward to some official comms from them hopefully soon

Hearing that shipping starts in April
ethang45@reddit
I had an order, but I ended up canceling. I want to see how it goes for those who ordered initially. I also don't think I need the top line trim, as I don't even have a bike right now, lol. I think I will go for the standard model if the launch edition turns out well.

Steve, I ordered Launch Edition October 26, 2025. ALSO is running a series of 6 weekly newsletters and blog posts which I interpret as a rough countdown for shipments to begin. Which suggests April, but I've received no official email from ALSO regarding my order shipment. I have ebikes from Aventon, Rad Power, and Luna Cycles. I'm looking forward to the TM-B as a complement to the innovation I've seen in my Rivian R1T Tri pickup, the best pickup I have owned. I always thought there must be a way for an ebike to offer regen braking and charging by pedaling. Rivian, not unsurprisingly, figured it out. $4500, by the way, is very competitive with brands such as Trek, Specialized, Reese Mueller, Gazelle, Canyon and many others. My Luna Cycle eMTB is very awesome, but I expect the TM-B to be even better. I ordered the off-road tires, sport handlebars, and cargo too frame. Looking forward to great bike packing and camping trips, commutes, and grocery store runs. I expect that the TM-B will make many cycling enthusiasts very happy. There will always be some folks who don't want electric mobility of any kind. That's OK. To each his own. I'm sure some horse owners 150 years ago disliked the early automobiles. All normal.

Well said. There is risk with being an early adopter. There is the chance there will be teething pains. There’s the chance that Also won’t be able to execute and this concept will fade into obscurity. The opposite is also true, and more likely in my opinion. There are enough really well thought out features that makes it worth the risk to me. The pricing complaints are funny. It’s not cheap, but for what it is, it’s priced well. I love bikes and cycling. Sure, it’s not a classic bike, but as a mobility tool I think it’s superior in a lot of ways. This is just the standard people complaining about new stuff. I ordered the exact same configuration as you. My biggest complain is lack of clarity on delivery timeline.

u/Worried_Document8668 has a point. If you "bottom out" the battery you can't pedal it anymore its like an e-scooter in that you can "charge" it by braking but it also means when its done so are you.
Hope your ride can fit it in the back.
pfhlick@reddit
Rivian claims this problem is solved by their drivetrain, which doesn't actually connect the rider's pedal power to the belt, but instead is sending that pedal wattage into the battery, while simultaneously delivering proportional power through the drivetrain. Allegedly it means the bike can go into low-power "infinity mode" in an emergency low charge situation.
I wonder how it feels, if it is better or worse than the drag from a hub motor. But they did think of it.
Malforus@reddit
That's not what I was saying: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQmhRjqjnYy/
Supposedly they have protections to prevent the battery from hitting 0% at which point it won't boot and can't be ridden.
In infinite turtle mode you can keep going but if it discharges further it can't boot.
Dangerous_Pop8730@reddit
The bike has a separate battery to power the computer to avoid turtle mode. The pedaling in turtle mode will allow for some level of propulsion of the bike. I’m certain it will not be comfortable but it will move. So both of your concerns were planned for by ALSO. It does scare me to go dead, but I hope folks plan for it since it only has up to 100miles of range.
StevenComedy@reddit (OP)
I focus on the positives in life and on this e bike. Plus, it has an infinite turtle mode. And of course I have a ride that can fit it in the back.
Worried_Document8668@reddit
that thing is no e-bike. no mechanical connection between cranks and actual drivetrain makes it a throttled scooter.
good luck when the concept is invariably scrapped and you need a replacement part
AMC2Zero@reddit
I'd be worried about proprietary parts and being left with an expensive brick if something goes wrong.
Dangerous_Pop8730@reddit
Man so excited for this “e-bike”, I placed my order and can’t wait to commute with it, ride it off road and go to the gym. Just an all around transportation and recreation bike. Folks said the same kind of stuff about Rivian vehicles and I respect the opinions. This TM-B is expensive but not for what you get. The only draw back for me is weighted and lack of colors, but the power makes up for the weighted and low center of gravity gives me pause on the handling concerns I had about the weighted. Also bringing the software defined concept to a bike, makes the possibilities endless for this “e-bike”. Man slap an ipad to the front and you got a peloton and ride this through the alps from your bedroom. It will make a great workout bike and got the utility top frame for grocery runs. Going to really try to reduce my car usage for small trips. Either way to OP congrats and also excited for the tm-b.
beagles4ever@reddit
The hate you will get on this anti-e-bike forum will be off-the-hook.
MarleyFern6618@reddit
Nice choice. April will come fast once you start planning your first rides.
