You cap the objective lens of the NVD, turn it up to full gain (or just on if it’s not a manual gain device) and put it in a box where no light can get to it. Let the battery run out while it’s in the box. Via this process, some tubes can “heal” themselves of certain blems/streaks. Pretty sure this applies to gen 3 tubes mostly. Go Jags.

I don't know how it applies to color blindness, but they make very cheap protective lenses that will filter the colors, e.g. make green nvgs look white-ish. Those might be useful for you.

I would’ve recommended 7631 but someone already bought it. O7 tubes are better than o5 and o6 and the blem on it isn’t centered. As it won’t get in the way of where you’re looking and kind of blends in with the noise at night.

Ignore FOM. It's a outdated metric that just obscures a tubes quality.
It's just SNR x Resolution. Resolution in modern gen 3 tubes is so high you cant tell the difference in a 64 vs 81 tube with magnifying the image. Just ignore it unless you are using it in a magnified system.
SNR is by far the most the important stat. Just look at that. I wouldn't buy a tube below around 28 personally, but the ones with 25 are pretty serviceable particularly if you plan to use active illumination.
