Starting at tmc in a week. Pretty excited

Due to unforseen circumstances a change in employment has happened and i am now starting my trucking journey in about a week. Its relatively exciting but also a little nerve wracking.
Any advice for a new driver? Whether it be for flatbed, drivint in general, or whatever else you might find useful. Been lurking this reddit the last month reading up but you can never know too much of course.

Just know that you will be walking on eggshells and the day of your orientation is the day of your interview. My husband said they had guys sent home on day 1, 2, 5 until they can find the best. If you are sent home before your 2 weeks you will not get paid for it.

Yeaaaa so i have heard. If it dowsnt work out.. well there is always other companies. Tmc is just most appealing for their home time policy realy, and pay seems one of the better options for starting out

Is that the outfit that dresses its plastic rigs in chrome and limps along at 62, slower than Swift draggin a 10 mile traffic jam through a 70 while pretty boy keeps edging ina outta the fast lane all glitter no grunt?
Freight-N-Wait@reddit (OP)
Last i was informed, they are governed at 65. Other than that couldnt tell ya lmao. First driving job, just had to stsrt somewhere and it seemed like the best of the options i had

Is that pumping with your foot or auto thrust? You might only hit 62 when you're working the pedal by hand but she'll creep up to 65 you let the cruise take control. Sounds like enough drivers finally moaned loud enough, because they used to max out at 62. Way back TMC had 75 but that went out with the long hoods. Most drivers work for outfits where the cruise thrusters only top out at 68, but your foot can only pump her to 65, so be ready to grind alongside the rest of the speed strapped slow pack.

Not sure, but guess i will learn soon! Haha
FeatureSilver2046@reddit
Yeah, you’ll find out soon enough. TMC is kind of like the starter partner you learn the basics on. They've had a decent reputation and maybe a few speciality spots you can slip in, lowboy and boats. When it's the time to move along you’ll know exactly what you won’t compromise on.

I hear TMC is ultra strict about cleanliness (inside and out).
Freight-N-Wait@reddit (OP)
Yea ive heard simillar. I know you are suppoaed to wash the truk every week, you HAVE to wash it every other week, which is fine. As for inside i wanna keep my little living space clean anyhow so thats cool too haha
boombapbabiezz@reddit
I literally just left from there. Truck washes are once a month, now. Inside cleanliness only matters if you are coming in for a service, which is every 40,000 miles, or as needed.
Freight-N-Wait@reddit (OP)
Once a month isnt bad at all then. Mind if i ask what made you leave? Anything bad of note or just moving on? And how was your pay (again if you dont mind me asking)

They're not

Make sure you can squat 120 pounds, jump on a trailer and pass a drug test day one.
Freight-N-Wait@reddit (OP)
Admittedly only one im unsure of is the trailer part because well, i have no way to test that haha. Inknowni can pass any drug test, and the tarp shouldnt be an issue
