What to watch after The Split, please?

I'm new to British telly and started off with comedy panel shows. After, I watched Celebrity Traitors and then I landed on *The Split*. I picked *The Split* because I recognised and liked Stephen Mangan from his appearances on the panel shows. Would you please recommend a box set to watch next? I don't know enough British actors to know which to choose. I just don't want to be disappointed because *The Split* was so good! Thank you for any recommendations! :)

The only show that comes close to The Split is Dr Foster!!! Absolutely brilliant show. Also The ex-wife but they ruined season 2 imo.

There's definitely lots of good US TV, it's just that the style is different. My favourite recent one was Ludwig, with a star you will definitely recognise if you watch a lot of panel shows. Can we ow what genres you're looking for?

Haha. There's a Canadian show I watch - Hudson and Rex - but whenever I want to watch telly there's all these old medical/fire/police US shows on - Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Blue Bloods, etc. - or shows like American Idol or reality series. Right now I'm not using Netflix or similar. I really like British humour, but I also like shows with more substance/depth and relationships/dialogue amongst the characters. *The Split* was great because you had the legal aspect, but it's also about the relationships and there was so much dialogue. It was exactly what I needed.

Can't th ink of a UK show with a dog sidekick I'm afraid, that's a little niche - Doctor Who had a robot dog for a while? In the procedurals you might like Sherlock, Line Of Duty, Happy Valley, or Between the Lines?

Oh, no, H&R is just one North American show I like, but I consider it "lite" TV. The UK has the heavy hitters - really great shows! That's what I've come for....

Not yet. I'm looking forward to *Lord of the Flies*, but you guys have given great suggestions. Both your shows are definitely on my list. And looking forward to hearing more incredible UK accents. Thanks!

Red Dwarf, without question. The entire boxset is free on iPlayer. Series 1 - 6 is some of the best BBC comedy ever made. Series 5, with episodes like Quarantine, Demons and Angels, and Back to Reality are 100% peak UK TV.

It's nice that someone asks about current UK shows. I am sick to death of explaining to my North American counterparts that no-one has watched Benny Hill since 1978 and it's not even funny

The Split is one of the most underrated UK shows and there's not a lot like it or that matches up to it IMO. I tried The Marriage after for Nicola Walker but it wasn't that good. If you're just looking for any good UK series to watch, some of my favourites are The Detectorists (drama/comedy), Peep Show (comedy), The Gold (crime), early Black Mirror series (sci fi)... Joan was decent recently too.
