I listened to a bunch of trip hop and DNB back in the day, but somehow didn’t get into Massive Attack until I got Spotify. Absolutely love a bunch of their work but Protection and Better Things are tops.

If you wasn't fucking while this album played you weren't listening to it right.

For some reason, I completely missed this genre when it was new. I knew and liked the main tracks that made their way into film and other media, I knew there was a genre called “trip-hop”, but I never put it together or dove into it any further. That was until a few years ago when it clicked and I listen to it all the time now. It bums me out that I missed out on being a part of it while it was new and current, but I have enjoyed/do enjoy getting to know the genre better and finding new-to-me albums and artists and connecting with the still thriving community

I thought I was going to be a filmmaker when I was 18, and this was regularly playing on my car. Teardrop and Angel were my inspiration and I was bound and determined to produce something with those tracks.

And then the realities of late stage capitalism hit like a ton of bricks dropped from a high ladder by the previous generation.

The amount of mdma I consumed listening to this album could kill a small army.

The singer is Jamaican reggae legend Horace Andy. He does some great stuff with Massive Attack. My favorite is [Girl I Love You](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBu3jjYMXxs&list=RDlBu3jjYMXxs&start_radio=1)

I discovered this album because I was a fan of the genre. Amazing album. Still one of the best to come from the 90's and one of my all time faves.

I’ll never forget the day I learned my favorite make-out album was actually Banksy. https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/music/news/banksy-robert-del-naja-massive-attack-art-who-is-he-identity-real-name-graffiti-music-similarities-a7805741.html

I remember when I first heard this playing in my coffee shop/hangout spot. Had to ask what it was so I could go buy the album. Still obsessed to this day. That coffee shop played the best music.

Modified version of this was the start screen background in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, which is still one of my favorite games of all time.

This song being in Snatch, and "Dissolved Girl" in The Matrix are how I found out about them. *Protection* is an amazing album as well.
