I put the barrel in my deep freezer for about an hour and then heat gun on high for about 2 minutes and the barrel slipped in perfectly. Super satisfying.

Freezing the barrel in your home freezer will only shrink it a negligible amount, about .001" Propane torch for \~20 seconds on the receiver extension is all you need to do in my experience.

Deep freezer at -10f does decent enough,and even .001 is worth the wait. 350-400 degree receiver is a few thou, a couple more on the barrel, slips right in.
And I am sure you mean receiver threads, receiver extension is the buffer tube.

I don’t think I’ll buy any more of these. the last one I got had dry film lube in the part of the upper the barrel slides into. They gave me a hard time exchanging it, then the new one was not thermal fit. I swear they’re selling out of spec as blems. I also got a mk2 buffer that came missing the spring, then the replacement bumper they sent me for it had the hole drilled in the wrong spot.

I agree. I have bought several of these throughout the years and they have been great but I picked up 2 more recently to go with some griffin lowers. There is so much play in the upper and lower that they are definitely not bcm quality that i have seen in the past. Swapped out several uppers on the same griffin lowers and no play at all. Then i put those uppers on several other lowers (SOLGW, Geissele, DD etc) and all had the same play so the issue is definitely in the uppers.

My last one had anodizing issues. There were some grey circles. Was painting it anyway so it didn't matter. It wasn't exactly thermal fit either. At room temp the barrel slid in half way, then needed a few mallet taps.

These are Demo/Scratched, which are more dinged up than the "BLEM" ones. They all work fine, but I've had a few Demo/Scratched that were not nearly as tight for thermal fit compared to the New or Blem options. Which was fine for some barrels that had oversized extensions, but it's something to be aware of if you're expecting these to be super snug.
I usually buy 2-3 BCM uppers at a time, and then I test fit those plus the 1-2 standard receivers I have on hand when building around a new barrel, and it helps with finding the perfect fit. I've had a few barrels that were too big for Blem BCM (WOA, PRI, Wilson Combat) and had to go on a standard receiver or the Demo/Scratched BCM. But the majority of my builds fit perfectly in a BCM with some direct heat on the extension.
