Originally this was cheaper than the S&W but this setup comes out to $800 with shipping and tax. (I forgot to add a rifle bag so it's probably closer to $860.) This setup is way more ergonomic, and comes with 7 more mags.
The cheapest I found was $732 to my FFL, including 10 magazines, and that $60 rifle bag.

So, I somewhat take it back. It's not "much" cheaper as I lead you on. I think there's more value in PSA. You can skimp on a rifle bag and maybe not get so many magazines. But the rule of law may come to yours state to restrict capacities. Keeping an eye on Craigslist, FB marketplace, and the revived GAFS can make some of your accessories cheaper.

By what metric? I’ve heard of plenty by of issues with M&P ARs. My hearsay isn’t any more valuable than yours, I’m just curious if you’ve got some specifics, because it seems like most of the budget AR brands have a lot of QC issues

Tbh I would consider my sport 2 a blem… it’s cosmetic other than the gas block.. there’s pits on the lower, again cosmetic but still… the barrels machining marks are rough AF. I can live with that but the fucked up gas block gives me OCD ended up getting an aero precision barrel and the quality is way better. My Delton upper is much better quality.
