In Frisco, allegations of ‘Indian takeover’ plunge community into national battleground

The overt racism is covering up an actual legit problem. The racism is real and is ugly and needs to stop, point blank. That being said, the Indians are not bad people, but they are actively choosing to isolate themselves from others. My neighborhood has a significant Indian population and many won't speak to you or acknowledge your existence if they see you on the street. It took almost a year to get my next door neighbor to speak to me and he still doesn't speak to my wife almost 3 years later. We've probably said about 100 words to each other today in that time lol. Their kids lose balls in our yard all the time but they never ask for them back. Another neighbor immediately goes inside if he sees us in the front yard. I'm DEFINITELY NOT the chatty type, but it's just common courtesy to say hello or wave when you make eye contact with someone 15 feet away from you. The men will go out of their way to not look at or speak to women. We've seen so many instances and it's a bit unsettling. My wife watched 3 older men approach another woman once and they stood sideways while they spoke to ensure there was no eye contact. When electing our HOA board, they had enough write in votes to elect a president who never put his name on the ballot or followed any of the rules to be elected. Despite pushback, he was allowed to take the role and once he got the position he never showed up to meetings or participated in any way. A black family on my street (they've recently moved away) had a 13 yr old son and the other kids would never talk to or play with him even though he was regularly outside on his bike trying to make friends. The kids all seem pretty nice but clearly their parents are telling them who they can interact with. My wife and I are also black so it's possible that we've been on the receiving end of their racism, but it's hard to tell. The white families we've spoken to have had similar experiences so we don't think that's the issue. Another black family we know out in McKinney have mentioned experiencing similar problems. I'm not sure what a solution would be, but I don't want the ugliest voices to be so loud that regular people tune everything out. I know things aren't going to be the same as when I was growing up in the 90s but you expect there to be some minimal level of community within a neighborhood.

See, when you say it, you're not racist. But when other people point it out, that's when they're called racist. The vast majority of Indians do not have a culture that can mix with America, and the more that are imported, the less likelihood of naturalization. I say until we get our economy and infrastructure fixed, we cancel all H1Bs and send people back to their own countries where they can enjoy their own culture in their way. We have American companies hire Americans, we figure out how to improve wages and benefits without simply mandating them, and we fix the issues with infrastructure and healthcare.

You can do that, and the countries will close door to American companies. Considering the stagnant economies of Europe and other continents. The only growth seems to be coming from China, India and other parts of Asia. They keep access to their market open for american companies but want their people to be able to immigrate to the US. You close that, they close the access. Can't have it both ways.

No corporation in its right mind is going to voluntarily "improve wages and benefits." They have shareholders they have to answer to and shareholders only care about profits. We are literally in this mess because of corporate greed and billionaire donors (a non-partisan issue). Do you see the mess we're in? It's because of corporate interest. And corporations will continue to bring in migrant workers because they can pay them less to maximize profits. Believing that corporations would willingly lose profit to help the common people is ignoring at least 2000+ years of written human history.

Hmm, I live in a fairly diverse part of Las Colinas and work in tech. I have spoken to a lot of my Indian neighbors and have even been invited to celebrations at their homes and sometimes go on walks with an older gentleman that walks around the same time. I also absolutely love all the cultural and culinary diversity they bring. I love when stuff is decorated for diwali and can throw down on channa masala and other dishes I have come to love. I have made a lot of friends with my asian coworkers and they tend to be very professional and pleasant to work with… I have literally worked with hundreds over my career. Nevertheless, I recognize that most people, regardless of culture, just want to be left alone and don’t want to be bothered in public. I have also lived internationally and know that not all cultures are as outgoing as Americans. Still, with the right attitude and social skills it isn’t that hard to make connections.

One thing I would like to add as someone who works in trades I have been treated like absolute trash by indians. I’m not going to be racist, but if an entire group of people is willing to treat me as subhuman and lack basic respect It’s hard for me to come to their defense. They as a group seem to want all the benefits of being an american while not actually wanting to join our society, conform to our moral values or social norms.

I am Asian, originally from NYC, and grew up with Indian neighbors. I moved out of Frisco after 16 years last year and still have family in Frisco. Unless you have lived in Frisco near the Indian temple or had your kids go to school with kids of “Recent Indian Immigrants” be they H1B or E2 or EB5 or whatever you do NOT understand what is going on here. The immigration numbers are incorrect. It’s not only the H1B’s that are coming directly to Texas, it’s also H1 bees that were originally accepted into other states that have since moved to Texas, but on paper they still show them working in Virginia, Georgia, California, etc. The influx of Indians here in North Texas are fresh out the village Indians with no civic sense, an attitude of entitlement and zero courtesy. They are aggressive, rude, and do not want to assimilate. My kids were told by Indian kids in school that “We are not allowed to play with you because you are not Indian”. None of my Indian neighbors had a conversation with me in 10+ years. I have Senior Citizens strolling my neighborhood wearing white diapers and a wife beater (no exaggeration). Go see Costco in Frisco on the weekend with grown men smelling like onions, cracked feet in flip flops cutting off old ladies and taking 6 samples at a time from the sample lady lol. It is WILD. The ambiance is not that of a diverse American neighborhood; the word “Takeover” is accurate. These are not the typical Indian immigrants I grew up with. My Indian friend call them 1st generation South Indian FOBs (Fresh of the Boat). They are advertising Frisco and Dallas in newspapers in India. IT IS A TAKEOVER. Anyone that says otherwise is being disingenuous. It’s sad that anyone that calls it out is then being accused of being racist or biased. Sorry, but when you change the entire character of an area so drastically and so quickly without any regard for customs or norms of the area, of course people are going to complain, especially if it is being done through unethical means.
View on Reddit #78628494

Costco in Frisco is wild. The amount of people who disregard basic politeness is astounding. Prepare to watch people pretend lines don't exist and keep your head on a swivel as children run right in front of your cart. If you try to confront someone about them cutting in line on front of you, they will pretend not to hear you. It's insane. I feel bad for the employees who have to sit there and enforce queues.

Their lack of assimilation and respecting their new home’s cultures/patterns is not just an American thing— people in Japan and Canada also complain about Indians doing the same thing there by being rude and not wanting to interact with non-Indians I have some neighbors that also don’t seem to want to let their kids interact with non-Indians, and refuse to listen to anyone else when they’re told that their kids can’t play on someone else’s lawn or in the street :/

Before the left in America was bought and paid for by corporate interests, it wasn't. The original socialists, unionists, and liberals who fought and died to give us the rights we have today were staunchly against mass immigration. Not out of racism, but because they explicitly understood that it was a tool to devalue their labor, divide their power, and replace them with an easily controlled vulnerable underclass.

They’re literally merely filling it.
View on Reddit #78627067

Nobody’s blaming a visa holder, they’re blaming companies that lay off American workers and hire h1b in the same exact roles which has been happening in waves since 2024. Look up Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft. They are by far the worst offenders and they’re the same companies who kissed the ass of DJT leading up to his election.  These are well documented problems that are plaguing the tech sector while the companies blame AI for the layoffs and quietly replace with h1b and, much more commonly, offshore talent. The billionaire class would love for us to think it’s Americans versus immigrants, would love for us to blame the visa holders. They’d love for everyone to say it’s nothing but racism to complain. All of this would distract us from the fact that it’s the billionaires once again leeching more wealth from the lower classes.

Unpopular opinion but a recent college grad isn't particularly skilled at anything besides taking tests these days. Companies are under pressure to produce instantly, meaning they only want senior talent. There's capacity to learn in recent grads but it'll be at least 6 months to a year before they're able to meaningfully contribute to a project, that's too long for a manager who needs to show how valuable their team is right now in order to make VP next year.

Call it what you wanna call it. But the fact is that these big tech companies are hiring H1Bs from India not because of their skills. Actually, it is a very serious situation- and before you say it is racist, please research this- In Canada- it is a huge issue. South asians have fraudulently abused the Canadian immigration pathways for over a decade now, to the point that every pharmacy, bank, dental/medical office, all our airport security, and trades - especially trucking, all fast food- all food delivery- all amazon - grocery, security companies- all -are enploying south indian. Yes, big corps are okay with this-, but- do not be fooled- even small businesses are now, and many if not all smaller franchises here are being bought by South Asians through an immigration 'pathway' that gives citizenship to those who purchase a small business (this exists in the US as well). It is impossible for anyone to get a job here in all the above employment streams after only 10 years of this loophole immigration. Note- my point here is that all levels - be it tech, or entry level, have been overwhelmed in Canada. Hiring managers, if South Asian (in big corps, pharmacy, banks, many of them are now), they only- hire south asian- if you are not south asian you cannot get a job. As for racism, and abusing immigrants, the people perpetrating wage abuse, wage fraud etc are predominantly south asian as well. It is all documented, in the news. You guys in the US, if you need to see how this can transform the workforce, just casually search for articles, etc in Canada- we are a case study. Don't forget to also research "Brampton" and surge in fraudulent and criminal activity- here in Canada either.

This. The simple solution is that you “lose” H1B sponsorships equal to your layoffs on the last fiscal year, and the number rolls from year to year. That would probably need to be a loss of tax benefits somehow, but it needs to be tied together to prevent “on-shoring.”

Anyone blaming this on the visa holders and not Gates, Bezos, and Musk, etc, is willfully ignorant. You can hate them right out of town, and the billionaire class will bring more visa holders right back in, because they don't want to pay you, and they want leverage to exploit workers.

I can blame both. Indians are notorious for lying and cheating to get hired through H1B. They also use nepotism and any and all loopholes to get as many Indians in as possible. There are H1B farms run by Indians made to get as many Indian applicants into the country as possible. It's disgusting that those actions have gone unpunished for as long as they have.

For the record, companies are legally required to compensate H1Bs on the same level as domestic hires. A worker on an H1B tends to actually be more expensive than a domestic hire.

If the majority of the hires are paid the same wage then the domestic workers getting more are the outliers and it’s “not discrimination.” Legal loopholes.
View on Reddit #78642380

happymancry@reddit

Another example of not knowing what people are talking about. Companies are legally not allowed to have more than a certain percentage of their workforce on H1B. “Majority of hires” lol. The real problem isn’t hiring. It’s hiring “contractors.” From personal experience: places like American, Southwest, Toyota have 1 employee for every 6-8 contractors. “Body shops”, I call them. And there’s a LOT of visa abuse there; and I’m 100% in favor of cutting down on that abuse. But there’s no need to spout falsehoods about how the program itself is legally structured.
View on Reddit #78643262

first_follower@reddit

I was not clear enough in my post. I apologize for that. In my line of work I deal with contractors. Daily. More than once I’ve been to a company that is either majority first generation Indian or is entirely Indian owned and operated in the US. Many of the higher ups that come here on visas are then sponsored to permanent resident or citizenship. The nepotism and caste system issues other people have pointed out is very true. That’s more what I was pointing out. If you have a small or medium sized company the percentages will be more skewed. People will accept lower wages to stay in the US. If the option was to go back to a country you wanted to leave or stay here, which would you pick? I have zero issue with Indians as a whole immigrating to the states. I do wish to see more integration. I also acknowledge that will take time. The insular communities (of any race, religion, or culture to be clear) are an issue I’ve seen firsthand.
View on Reddit #78645740

stonkstogo@reddit

Say that’s what was happening in practice. Would someone born and raised in India or someone born and raised in Lake Highlands be more willing to work 60, 70 hours a week for $20/hr? Set the “domestic hire” salary low enough and you’ll still find a few domestic hires who are willing to work for it, but you’ll find plenty abroad. Keep salaries low enough, and all you’ll find are workers from abroad willing to work for it.

There are many with masters’ degrees, however, the usual pathway is to get an undergraduate degree in India then apply to whichever tier grad school in the US. The focus is on tech so frequently don’t have a more well rounded liberal arts education as is required by US colleges. The bigger issue is the cultural nepotism and preference to hire someone who loos and sounds like them. There is usually a strong preference to hire from the same city or region of India. And, yes, if they are constrained by a visa, it’s only human nature that they will be easier to manipulate by the companies that control their visa sponsorship. Americans that come to reasonably expect any work-life balance will not compete with a visa holder that feels like they have to work 12-16 hours a day to keep their job. In a recent layoff, the only Indians who were impacted were the ones who had already naturalized, not necessarily the ones who were doing redundant work.

But the real worry isn’t the h1b program, it’s offshoring. Companies would much rather build a giant campus in Hyderabad, pay them 90K usd, instead of 140K and an h1b, and keep them in Hyderabad. The toughest issues are when real complaints about shitty behavior are being mixed with blatant racism. I once took a training class on culture and diplomacy for work. It was pretty mind opening when the instructor pointed out while a lot of cultural revulsion against Asian groups involves how “they” smell - that a significant chunk of the world find Americans “stinky” because of their heavy dairy-based diet, which is fairly uncommon in much of Asia. Most hate and intolerance is rooted in the inability to recognize and accept mutual difference.

My buddy worked for BNSF for 23 years in IT. They laid off his entire department in 23’. Then subsequently create a “new” subdivision of IT who did the exact same thing he used to do, but filled it with H1B workers at a fraction of the salary. The Mexican immigrants were never taking our jobs, but the Patels are.

blaming the workers but not the business owners proves that the ruling class has tapped in to your subconscious. it doesnt matter if its Patel or Rodriguez or Johnson, they will always exploit the working class and use race to manipulate you into fighting other workers. White residents are not competing with Indians for jobs. If they wanted higher incomes and better jobs, they should have done the work that Indians did to afford their lifestyle. It's every man for themselves, unless that man (or woman or person) can assist you in your financial conquests. Then you milk that cow (society) fucking dry. Unfortunately, Frisco has had this mindset for as long as I can remember. I was a forced transplant, lived in Frisco around 2002ish? Not long after they opened Stonebriar, I had never experienced anything like that, the people like prided themselves on being pretentious fake rich assholes. Through the years I've had various coworkers and friends from India, they have a segment of the population, just the states, that are exactly like that. If they were white it wouldn't be an issue, because Frisco is working overtime to cover their racism.

H-1B fraud is a federal issue. Either the people complaining are too stupid and don’t have a single fucking clue about how our government works, or they wanted to make it clear to our Indian peers that they aren’t welcome in Frisco. I’d bet on both. These are the idiots who watched some chick on TikTok encourage them to show up and complain. Come on. Let’s be real. It isn’t about H-1B fraud. You even had a white trash lady speak at the end about how she has all of these new Indian neighbors and she sees so many Indian shops popping up in her area. Boo fucking hoo. These asshats are the ones who laughed and shook their heads in a mocking manner as a young teenage boy mustered up the courage to speak at the podium. The fact that other Indian peers had to come up and prove their worthiness to live in Frisco was incredibly sad. One even said, “I’m also a republican” as if that would help. We have no authority to grant them approval. I’ve never once had an issue with the increase in Indian people. My Indian neighbors are just as kind as anyone else. Sure, there are more Indian shoppers at Costco, and more Indian drivers on the roads with “student driver” stickers. But a majority of the people complaining about H-1B fraud… let’s just say they’re not exactly the one whose jobs are being affected. For people who exclaimed others to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and called everyone snowflakes… Also, the first person to complain proudly displayed confederate flags and backed up his argument by saying he’s a Christian man… why are we so unwelcoming and uncomfortable with Indians but have no disdain for racists guising their hatred as Christian love?

I live in Plano. I'm a leftist. I love Indian food. I've dated an Indian girl before. While there are definitely old school Texas racists who want to see all Indians go back to India, the actual "issue" isn't a problem with race. The problem is the culture clash. Stuff that's okay in India is NOT okay here, and their community is very closed to outsiders. I grew up in Plano, went to all Plano schools, and the Indian kids almost NEVER wanted to befriend or talk to anyone else who wasn't Indian. Not whites, asians, blacks, latinos, none of them. I have worked in retail, and many treat retail employees like servants, i've had that experience. It's because India uses a caste system, and the majority of Indians who come here on an H1B visa are from a higher caste, so they look down on people they consider lower class and treat them like shit to put it bluntly.
View on Reddit #78644706

I absolutely love my Indian neighbors. And I’m not talking anyone specific, I’m in the thick of it here in Coppell. Universal Academy is down the street from me and I’m pretty sure 95%+ of that school’s hundreds of kids are Indian. It doesn’t bother me, Indian food is amazing, their values are amazing, they seem genuinely grateful for everything. As someone who grew up absolutely dirt poor, I think I can relate to a lot. The article has a quote “If a company is taking the time to hire an H1-B worker,” Collins said, “there’s likely a compelling reason.” I’ve worked for Verizon, AT&T, and several other large corps in Irving, on teams where I’m the only non-Indian. And I can say with 100% certainty, the “reason” is because they can be taken advantage of, almost exclusively by other Indians. I don’t get it, decades I’ve been in IT, why do Indians treat other Indians like shit? They get paid like crap, made to work like dogs, yelled at. Honestly the worst part of working in a heavy Indian shop, knowing there’s a culture of abuse, I can’t really put it any other way.

I have seen myself a company get turned over from American workers to Indian, where the Americans were asked to train the Indians on their way to the unemployment line. But getting mad at the Indians will abolish nothing but a cultural war. Congressman should be feeling and getting this heat. They are the ones who can change our laws. Companies should be feeling this heat. They are the ones we can put out of business by refusing to do business with them. African Americans in Montgomery inconvenienced themselves by walking and carpooling to work to boycott the bus system. It took a year of doing this before the policy was ruled unconstitutional. Let's remind those people that reason Frisco became a "suburb known for high-ranking schools and a thriving business climate" is because of those Indians and other South East Asians.

It’s almost as if white residents think they have a claim to this average, boring suburb. They’re shocked to learn that Indians are more educated and have better jobs and income than they do. What do they even MEAN “how do they afford these luxury houses?” With the same money and success that seems to have avoided you your entire life.

They’re mad someone is treating them the way they’ve treated minorities for all of time.

Man, I worked with Marc Palasciano (*mentioned in the article for those that read it*) for years at T-Mobile, and it’s disheartening to see how radical he has become. He became extremely angry when he was skipped over for high ranking roles and then began spiraling out of control about conspiracy theories about C-Level leadership. The attention he got from being the leader of what I called “T-Anon”, led to him taking part in nonsense like this. He truly was, at one point, a very lighthearted, jovial, and warmhearted person. I hope he can find his internal light again before it’s too late.

The racists are getting more brazen as they see dear leader commit racism constantly and openly without consequence now.
