Looking for an upgrade still within AM4.

Long story short, AI can be a lovely thing but it fricked component prices. I was going to upgrade my rig to AM5 and get a X3D series CPU along with DDR5, unfortunately that is out of the question. I have a decent rig that can handle things well, but unfortunately my last upgrade a few good years ago was not really well thought since I now have a heavily CPU bottlenecked rig, sporting a 3070 paired with a Ryzen 5 2600x. I notice that due to optimization, a lot of the games I play are incredibly CPU intensive and it's not fun to watch my frames be capped or performance dipped due to my aged CPU and terrible combo. I was wondering if it would be viable to upgrade within the AM4 socket or if I should wait for the AM5 prices to stabilize. If the former, than what's a AM4 CPU that can outperform my current one - I was going for the AM4 X3D's but they seem to be gone from pretty much anywhere since they're great for gaming and I was wondering what people suggest. Got a 5600 paired with a 9070 non xt on 1440p, games that are not so cpu intensive are great, but for example spiderman 2 which likes to use the cpu also while swinging around in the city, i have about 70-80 fps. If i had a ryzen 7 5700x3d that would be easy 110-130 fps. So got me thinking, since im in europe, we don't have a microcenter or anything close to it with bundle deals. I was actually thinking on buying a 5700x3d, where i live, not a single one is sold for weeks now. If one pops up, they want 400+ euros for it, or they sell it as a bundle with ddr4, motherboard and the cpu for absurd amount of money. So the only option is to buy one from aliexpress, they ship from poland and are about 370 euros usually. Even if that is rly expensive, but also don't see a chance to buy a amd5 build any time soon. 32 gb of ddr5 cost 750 euros + a motherboard + a decent cpu. All cost around 1300-1400 euros...that's so sad. I bought a whole pc for 1000 euros 4 years ago with a 6700xt in it...

For sure, Ryzen 5 5600 / 5600X / 5600XT, Ryzen 7 5700X, 5800X, 5800XT are good options The R7 5700X tends to be the sweet spot for the price to performance, but shop around as there can be the 5800X / 5800XT for about the same price and same with the Ryzen 5s, they may be around the same price as each or a higher spec model cheaper than the others

I have 5800x, it runs really hot even with all the cooling i have. I would go for the 5700x any day tbh, the performance is barely different, but the temperatures are waaaay better

I’m not sure what your issue is then. I have an XT which is clocked even higher and it *rarely* exceeds 70C under heavy, extended all core usage, on air cooling.

Any chance you live near a microcenter? If you're going to pay $200 for a 5800xt, you could sell your current parts and shoot for something like the 7600x bundle or the 7500x3d bundle for $350 and add another 16gb stick when things improve. Either way, I'd factor in the value of your current parts since used stuff has also gone up when making your decision.

i recently went from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5700X( got it used for like 100$) i also play CPU heavy games only like Dota2,Valorant and World of Warcraft. So the performance increase was huge!! I personally recommend getting an USED, 5600,5600X,5700X,5800X

This is great advice. I think I may upgrade to a 5700X or XT

Best bet is to look on fb marketplace for a used pc that has a 5700x3d or 5800x3d. Got a whole pc for 600. Now I have a 5800x3d build and a 5600x build

Originally wanted to do this, but people near me seem to be aware of the fact those specific models are rare, and good, so the prices are a bit egh.

Go for r7 5700x3d, just bought mine last year October If you can still snag a piece, go for it, because the production afaik is already stopped 5800x3d is nowhere to be found these days

I have the same gpu as you and used to have a ryzen 2600. I upgraded to the 5800x and it is way better but I would rather have gone for the 5700x/3d. The 5800x runs very hot.

The 5800/5700x3ds are equal to a 7600x ish of AM5. You would definitely see a big upgrade spending about 400$ on a used one from eBay, or spend about 150$ for a 5600x or 5800xt. As for AM5, you could get this combo from Newegg for 440$.
