Is that a 15 ft long belt?

I think that is how power takeoffs used to work.

Looks like a very different tractor than the OP, posted based on the driver position, and like 100 other things.

I presented an American like version and thought someone might comment on it. Surprised I didn't find more pictures of it. The MM version drove in the opposite direction and had many different units that were changed out, lifted off with the supplied hoist. The removed unit was set on a tricycle, 3 wheeled steel-tired frames for storage. My dad had one in the late 60's with the corn sheller and soybean thrasher attachments. I drove it some in my early teen years, it was probably manufactured in the 50's.

Pretty net / odd piece of equipment and dig as I may I can't really find one that looks like the one in the video, some farmer may have just modified it to go the other way? The front drive / driver moline the axle would on the wrong side tho.

Cool tractor! Really wish you could see all of it. Or know anything about it.

If only there was a way to record videos in a horizontal way like a landscape.

Then I would have to turn my laptop on its side when its uploaded vertically. That would be ridiculous.

I would presume if it has a pto this could be for an old harvesting unit which would be attached to the underside of the rear axle. Or a self propelled swathing unit with a small motor. The surface area would allow maximum efficiency for the width of an old tow behind combine or swathing unit.

Great demonstration of why open differentials are a thing.

Reminds me of the demo at the start of [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJE9b918AzE).

so what's the reasons for this weird layout? most old trike type tractors i've seen are normal ones with narrow fronts for row crop use.

Seems like farmer had very specific problem

3 wheeled vehicles are not safe. You get sideways on a hill they tend to tip over. They don't make 3 wheel tractors or off road trikes anymore for a reason.

Well this thing is a right triangle not an isosceles triangle like most 3 wheel vehicles

miksy_oo@reddit

If it was a tilting problem one would assume the driver wouldn't be this hig up.

I’m guessing it’s some kind of row crop custom built tractor

So THATS how they made crop circles

My grandfather had an old (50's) Farmall with an extended axle like this, but his was only around 3 feet (1m). His property was one giant hill that was pretty steep on all sides. Without the extra length he would have just tipped the thing every time he tried to brush hog. He made a wooden bench that sat on the axle and my twin sister and I spent countless hours on that thing swatting grasshoppers while he mowed away. The trips down through the timber with his old homemade trailer to collect firewood were my favorite.

I spent time on a farm in NE Ohio in the 60’s. He had a Farmall BN. It was a small utility tractor just a bit bigger than a Farmall A. It had the left side axle extended. The housing was flat and made a good place to sit. I think the draw bar was such that part of it was in front of the axle and made a perfect footrest while sitting on the axle.
