Has anyone been to World Oddities Expo?

Hi, guys! I've been to Oddities & Curiosities Expo when it's been in-town and had a decent time. This is the first time I'm hearing of World Oddities Expo (in its second year?) coming to Dallas next week. Did anyone go last year and mind sharing their experience and if they thought it was worth attending? Not finding much online. Thanks!

Stick to O&C. WOE is a knock off version of them and Adam Hutter, the organizer, intentionally tries to confuse patrons by booking similar dates/cities as O&C. However, the difference is definitely noticeable in the two, WOE is very poorly curated and managed. They are also ok allowing animal cruelty at their shows with massive amounts of animal skeletons that are clearly sourced from fur farms/overseas and with an exotic wildlife "photobooth" where you can hold kangaroos, sloths and other animals that should not be put on display for an expo. Ive been a vendor at both events and I was not a fan of how I was treated at WOE as an artist. The booth fees are much higher than O&C and the organizer does not take any feedback into account- they're only concerned with making money for themselves. I heard patrons complain at each one I attended as well about the disorganization and overall quality of the event- they also charge more for tickets.

I have also vended with woe. Adam is scummy and has done grimey things to female vendors.

Disgusted to hear that. Can you elaborate at all? I understand if you don't want to I would just love to be able to warn others. I felt like he was speaking down to me several times during our interactions and watched him treat male vendors differently than myself and some of my female vendor friends so it would not surprise me at all if he was covering up more secrets.

Sure. And I hope heard this. He tried giving my friend (female) a high THC content lollipop with malicious intent. A similar situation happened in another city. However I wasn’t in the room to witness.
Aside from his interactions with females when no one else is around he’s a liar and a carny. He’s out there to confuse attendees into buying tickets for his show thinking it’s O&C. His events are less than. Too many of the same vendors that it’s confusing to shop as you really don’t know if you’ve been at the booth or not. That speaks for the vendors and promoters alike.

Ugf hes gross. I absolutely agree with the last part of your statement. I wish more vendors would come forward publicly to warn attendees and other vendors about his behavior and poor business practices.

Attendees don’t seem to mind. They come to see what’s there and honestly o&c isn’t much different, their ethics are. All the odd world markets are relatively the same vendors and mediums. I’m also jaded haha

What is o&e or o&c? Ty

Thank you so much for shedding light into the situation! I’m sorry to hear about the animal conditions and how vendors are treated.

Also forgot to mention WOE allows AI "art" and lots of 3-D printed booths.

The vendors are more of the same. Taxidermy of some sort in a kookie pose with a random toy glued to it. A doll head with screws in it as a lamp. Terrariums. Bones. Vinyl. A flea market yes. An expo of any kind? No.

Large collection, but the audacity at pricing…rusty empty biscuit tin for $12, old broken containers for $18. Books with ripped covers, missing pages and falling apart in your hand $15+

The ads got me. We committed to a single day + terrarium event. Really looking forward to it

is it good?

It was cute but the "World" part was exaggerated. It's consider it overpriced entry.

Just got finished with it and I was so disappointed, I tried to dig deeper online for if it was just me, and this post was one of the very few things I saw online about. Apparently, that’s by design given the accusations of killing bad reviews..
This event was so underwhelming. The turnout was pretty impressive, but the amount of people they’re trying to pack into this place is crazy. Expect to bump shoulders, elbows, and knees into almost every other visitor.
The booths were all the same 5 shops copy-pasted 10 times. Oh, butterfly pinned in a frame. A mouse on a tech deck? A bunch of teeth in a ziplock bag? Wowwwwwwww so odd, it’s worth the insane amount of money they want to charge for it.
Unless they really get their stuff together and take it as seriously as Oddities & Curiosities Expo, this is a hard pass for me. Wish I spent my money elsewhere.

Thanks so much for the fresh review! I’m sorry to hear about your experience, but hopefully your pain helps out someone else. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I went to WOE last year and was rather underwhelmed. There were several vendors and artists, but when I showed pictures to a friend who goes to O&E every year, she said it was significantly less than what she sees at O&E.
I also paid extra to see an exhibition of preserved specimens that was wildly underwhelming. I was in and out in less than ten minutes. That wasn't worth the money. If they're offering that again, I'd avoid it.

Thank you for the honest review!

I’ve never been but my brother in law came home with a petrified puppy.

I don’t see any tickets for next week. Can you post a link?

It super fun, I was supposed to do the artistic taxidermy class but I was 10 weeks pregnant at the time and it felt like more than I could handle. But my friend loved it.
