Did they do a cartoon for like every comedy movie in the 80s? Never knew this one existed !

I love how dated the safety lessons are at the end.  "Know how to use a payphone so you can call for help in an emergency."  One is about bike safety which goes into wearing bright colors and having a flag on the back. Great, not enough people think of that today. Not one mention if helmets.

And not just comedies, Robocop and Rambo got cartoons.

Not every movie, but a lot of them! I was quite fond of this series (I was a bit too young to understand the movies) and also the Ghostbusters cartoon (Peter was a lot more likable in the cartoon than the film).

And the same voice character as Garfield I might add😁😹

And then Bill Murray voiced Garfield in the live action movie, so the circle could be complete!

Lorenzo Music! He was so identifiable - he was also Tubbi Gummi in the Gummi Bears cartoon.

I can’t believe they made a popular tv cartoon with the Toxic Avenger. ![gif](giphy|PjLUDx1lu3cAM)

Yep, and there’s a new toxic avenger series I think on Hulu

This kind of shit is why the original movie was rated R, and PG by the third installment. The same thing goes for why Ghostbusters II was so toned down, as well.

Yep, I was talking to someone recently about how the first Ghostbusters uncut was much more racey than we remembered

“Hey, somebody forgot to dot the I!” “I’ll fix it!” Don’t remember ever watching this show, but that lives rent free in my head for some reason

Its also on Tubi along with a lot of 80s cartoons. Warner Brothers released a lot recently for streaming.

Xfinity And I think you can also get it with antenna TV believe it or not

What makes everyone think I don't have an antenna?? Most channels here are very far and very weak.
View on Reddit #78171518

External_Side_7063@reddit (OP)

Oh, I understand what you mean. I was just joking about back in the day that to your antenna is better reception, but that usually works better for radio.

Similar-Rutabaga-954@reddit

The antenna I have and the location I'm in doesn't reach that far.

TheJokersChild@reddit

Yeah, it's a digital subchannel. The station I work for carries it, but ironically I can't pick it up at home and I'm not wasting money on cable for it. And funny enough, there's another retro tv channel that's actually *called* [Antenna TV.](https://antennatv.tv/) Pale imitation of MeTV, though.

External_Side_7063@reddit (OP)

No, I believe you can actually hook an antenna up to your television or even if you need one and switch the input to antenna and you can pick it up They just recently picked it up on Xfinity but months ago when it started, this is what they were saying in advertising But I don’t know how far the broadcast range is for it. I didn’t try it, but that’s what they said. I don’t know for sure but that’s the way I heard it. 😁

TheJokersChild@reddit

I *do* have an antenna hooked up. All I get is PBS. I'm out of range/too far under the mountains for everything else.
View on Reddit #78164322

External_Side_7063@reddit (OP)

Ah that sucks. I feel your pain. Maybe you need a taller antenna since you’re in the mountains 🤣 now we’re really talking generation X😁

I need my apartment to mount antennas on each building, maybe. Or just a different apartment.

How many episodes were set in the Blue Oyster Bar? Lol. I can't believe someone made a cartoon out of that.

The 80s, when they made cartoons and toys for all of the movies that kids should not be watching. Alien, predator, terminator, Robocop, etc. Sure let's advertise those to kids.

This came out in 88. This is more of an early millennial thing that a GenX thing. Maybe for the very tail end GenXers, but I was already over Saturday morning cartoons by this point.

I hope the tone of this as different to the movies, I got a shock watching the first movie for the first time in years with my 10yo son.... Reminds me that they made Robocop into a Saturday morning cartoon as well.
