Ok, it’s even weirder now…
I have no idea what this show was about, but I remember the title name being advertised all the time as if there was some sort of innuendo behind it. It oddly makes sense that they pushed it so hard then, given what is coming to light these days.

I always thought it was Wienerville, not Weinerville. "Weiner" and "Weinerville" should be pronounced like "wine". A hot dog is a wiener, not a weiner.

This is an Americanization thing, I think. A lot of European immigrants throughout the 20th century changed the spelling of their names (or had it changed for them) to fit American pronounciation. In German the second vowel is the one that is pronounced, but in American English that is rarely the case.

Ok, but how many other Nickelodeon shows were named after their hosts? Hell, even the oddly-specific Nickelodeon logo near the top-left of the title name in the opening post reinforces the innuendo.

Keenan & Kel and The Amanda Show, off the top of my head. And just calling him the host is maybe underselling it a bit, considering he was also the showrunner and primary actor in the skits. I'm assuming he handled a lot of the writing as well.

I'd moved on by the time The Amanda Show came along, but my little sister watched it a bit. And I'm fuzzy on the of the details of Weinerville at this point but I don't really remember anything being obviously sexualized, just weird.
