Going into Western Express... What should I know beforehand?

So I was in your exact situation. Got hired by Werner straight out of CDL school, wasn’t given any training and then thrown the keys. Got fired after 6 months due to small incidents that honestly wouldn’t have happened if I was train. (It’s neither here nor there now). Currently at Western Express because they were the only ones that would hire me. First off, because you got fired they will make you do the most hours for training, like 150 drive hrs or something I can’t remember. During that time they’ll pay you like $35 a day. Fun fact during your time out with your trainer, it doesn’t count as days with the company only after. Secondly, they will strong arm you into a year contract or more specifically 365 day contract and if you wanna leave early you’d had to pay them like 2.5k. Regarding how they run, you have to follow their copilot pre-approved routes within a 150 miles, if you don’t after those 150 miles they’ll start taking 1.25 per mile out of your pay check for “stealing diesel”. They will give you due solutions but restrict how much per fuel stop. Like only allow 30 gallons at one place, make you drive another 300 miles till you low fuel light pops up and then allow you to fuel 145 gallons. Their fuel card only allow you to buy, windshield fluid, coolant and engine oil, everything else you have to send in a dvir. They also don’t allow you to use anti-gel during the winter, the say their fuel stops winterize their fuel. Hometime, forget it. You can only take 3-4 days off before having to turn your truck in, even then you have to get a approved route home I’m going on a tangent but basically, western express is the bottom of the barrel. They will micromanage everything and force you to do loads even if that means you run out of time, don’t expect kindness from these fuckers, prepare for the worse. Do your year and run, that is what I’m doing, I just hit 6 months and I’m counting every single day till I can leave.
