What's the norm for "stadium" comedy gigs?

Off to see Peter Kay in Cardiff this weekend and wondered what typcially happens ? My ticket says 20:00 but obviously music gigs don't get to the main act until few support bands. Or is it more like a theatre show ? I imagine Peter Kay doesn't keep everyone waiting for an hour and half like some pop diva either... Don't want to miss anything, want a bit of atmosphere/time to get settled but not sitting around for ages

Saw Jason Manford earlier this week, he said he'd done 208 of the same show and to be honest, you could tell. Enjoyed it but there was almost nothing that felt off the cuff, it was like watching an entertaining monologue type of play at a theatre.

For stadium gigs, it's not being a "pop diva", it's to accommodate the time required to get everyone in the venue, allow people to buy drinks/merch/etc. They do the same for all types of events. If doors were at 8pm, and the act started at 8pm, you'd be whinging that you'd miss half the set. The doors for Peter Kay in Cardiff are at 18:30 according to the venue site, so 20:00 will be the time the show starts, whether there's a support act or not.

Went a couple of weekends ago- he came on at 8, maybe even a few mins before. No warm up. Finished about 10.15. The first half doesn’t have a script so it was a bit random. Some bits were funny, but I would just have plenty to drink and enjoy the night out. Book a table if you are going for food beforehand.

The first have is more freestyle but it’ll definitely have some form of script. He’ll slip planed jokes in to make it look like it’s off the cuff. Great show! I’d go again.

Show will start at Bob on 8 or a touch after. Get there early a like 7-ish to get through security. You’ll love the show!

When I saw Bill Bailey there was no warm up, the gig started at the ticket time. I don't know for sure about Peter Kay but I'd say it's more akin to seeing a play than a concert.

Cardiff Arena so not really an arena.... I think there were a few big ones back in the late 90s actually in Wembley but I don't think they happen now.
