We are 10% through the year already, how has everyone’s year been so far?

I can’t believe how quick this year has gone, how’s the start of the year been for everyone?

Pretty good actually. Been seeing a girl since the start of Jan & have been inseparable since. Got loads of work coming in for the business, & made double the profit this tax year compared to the first year in 2022.  Kind of full on though, juggling it all.

Hi mate, sorry it’s been a while since you commented haha.  I would suggest watching & digesting this video. It was incredibly helpful for me. The aim isn’t to find someone to date, necessarily. It’s to connect with people more authentically, in general, not just looking for a gf. That will just fall in to place when it’s right, when you stop looking for a partner to fill the hole that you believe is in yourself.  https://youtu.be/lgqP-6terms?si=QP00l6zUocu6hVeZ I’d also suggest researching attachment theory, understanding that can be very helpful in weeding out people who simply wouldn’t be suitable to bring in to your life, either romantically or platonically.  I know it all sounds a bit woo woo, but give it a chance.

Not too bad. I cut out soft drinks and beer and so far I've lost a stone and a half.

I hate January, it’s so grey. By far the worst month. Really looking forward to spring and the sun coming back. Started planning my holidays and got a work trip to Switzerland booked that I’ll turn into a long weekend so really excited for that!

I may be getting made redundant from a job I was looking at getting out of in the next year two, only ideally I was going to move into a job and not into unemployment. Alternatively, I may end up being kept on in a department that been bled by half in a changing workplace, so the workload goes up, office attendance goes up, but I get to keep pushing our savings up above where we were. Super.

It's going okay apart from unexpectedly my cat dying last month and me getting a stomach bug from work.

I’ve exercised every day and lost half a stone (7 lbs), and I’ve been going through nonstop house-purchase negotiations. My body is in great shape, but my mental state hasn’t fared quite as well. Still, I’ll keep going.

Last week I was diagnosed with the mumps and then a chest infection on Monday. It's not going well 😂
View on Reddit #77617858

jus_plain_me@reddit

Are you not vaccinated?
View on Reddit #77633760

thelxiepia@reddit

I had both vaccines as a child but apparently you can still get it again!
View on Reddit #77634230

jus_plain_me@reddit

Those are some insane odds of that happening especially as someone who is vaccinated. Just in general there were 157 cases in 2024. That's a 1 in 2 million chance, but that's everyone, and most got it due to being unvaccinated. Yours is even lower! I guess consider also playing the lottery whilst your face and balls swell up.

Yeah, I got the mumps back in 2012 despite being vaccinated as a child and it absolutely floored me. I was practically bedridden for around two weeks and it also caused me to miss my friends wedding. I don't remember much from my time with the mumps but I do remember lying in bed and being visited but a doctor and my mum telling me that I looked like Quagmire from Family Guy. I hope you don't feel too bad with the mumps and that you make a quick recovery.

I've had an ongoing chest infection and cough since just before Christmas. Doctor isn't bothered by it, and it's finally looking like it might begger off soon.

I’ve had some good moments, went out solo to a concert for the first ever time and realised I can actually have fun by myself, also got to meet a few celebs after which was amazing, also something I’ve never done. Also really focused on 10k steps everyday and cut out fizzy drinks and over snacking. No idea if I’ve lost weight as I don’t own scales but I feel better within myself

Oh really shit. My wife asked for a divorce last year, nothing has progressed from there until last night. I turn 40 in a couple of months and fully expect this year to be an absolute hell scape. At least work is going well and I can see the difference I am making for others.

It's a mixed bag. It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago, so we went away for a couple of nights in Edinburgh, which was lovely. But our landlord is selling up so we have to move, and my arthritic hip has been flaring badly. So, eh.

I've been unemployed for 18 months, well over 100 applications and not a single interview. I had a few months of temp work last year but the agency hasn't had anything to offer since December. It's hell.

In a month it’ll be march, the birds will be singing, the clocks will change, blossom on the trees and the spring horn will blow. Then before you know it the nights will be drawing in, the wind will strip the trees bare and the Halloween ads will herald the coming winter. The dark, dark winter. It’s just around the corner.

Terrible. It started off with a car accident and my dog being sick. Because I’ve been using a courtesy car, last week, I was the target of a crash for cash moped scam and it’s been absolutely relentless. It’s exhausting. I’m seeing Mew’s final show (or final show with Jonas? Either way, it’s final) tomorrow and it’s my first time seeing them. I’m at least excited about that. If I didn’t have things to look forward to, I’d just snap.

I have been ill for almost all of it. My baby has been ill for almost all of it. I have been averaging about 4 hours sleep a night because of the aforementioned ill baby. There’s a work situation going on that fills me with dread every single day. My carefully planned out budget went out the window for when my car needed £900 worth of work and an appliance in my kitchen overheated and melted the plug into the socket, resulting in a £300 bill from an electrician. Did have a good 4 days away in wales with some of my best friends tho. Overall 2/10, would not repeat.
