Im surprised this was here. I also played it on a laptop with integrated graphics at 720p40-60 I believe the game to be the most beautiful Unreal 3 game. Every stage looks really beautiful and the ones in Vergil's downfall are picturesque. It is also my favourite game in the franchise.

nope, dynamic lights in source games aren't ray traced, they're either a) just simple glow sources that have no raytracing, bouncing or shadow casting capabilities b) cascade shadow maps (eg for the sunlight shadows in CSGO etc), similarly projected textures are used for a few sources that cast shadows like the HL2 flashlight). These also don't bounce or refract or anything ray tracing can do, they're just shadow mapped lights from a point or direction source.

I dunno, if it was a physical-only game I'd get it, because you need to get the disk image, mount it, dump it using a certain software, and only then you have something you can play with the emulator. But MGS4 is on NPS, so it's not a problem at all. Game patches are also easy to find and install, and the in-emulator patches (the ones I was talking about) are just a menu with checkboxes. Running it is hard though, won't argue there

A mid range PC from the past 6 years can emulate. I run RPCS3 on a 5600 CPU and 4060 pretty well, it did well with a 1070 even. The CPU is the biggest factor in emulation but even the 3600 can do some less demanding game better than a PS3.

Japanese games are just on a different level, the movement and systems may come across as robotic but the character models are just completely lifelike. With western devs it’s a bit different, they don’t do hyper realism but TLOU2 is as close to real life as you can get.

A Radeon RX 6800 31gb and a ryzen 7 5800x. Unless you managed to find the sweetspot for emulator settings, I refuse to believe that you didn't experience any progress resetting crashes, the occasional UI graphical bug or especially audio desync since it doesn't like being run at 60fps all too much. I can easily run it at 60 if I'd like to, but let's not forget that specs like that to run something at just 60 is pretty insane for a game that is nearing 20 years old in just 2 years.

I used some canary patch with custom rpcs3 build. Zero bugs or crashes, quite literally finished the entire playthrough in 60fps, with 300% resolution scaling. Insane or not, you have to emulate the hardware through software and that has it's toll. Need to revisit the game sometime soon with my new 9800x3d and 5070ti build.

I played MGSV on a laptop with a 2GB graphics card and it ran smooth. I then played it on ultra settings with a GTX 1650 and it ran smooth. It also ran smooth on an iGPU with 1GB VRAM. That engine was something else.

Before that they were the benchmarks for how optimized games should be, with both Doom 2016 and Eternal, especially with the former.

And yes it can run with Intel HD graphics(integrated) as well with 40+ fps. But you need to do some tweaking in the console. Ohh that's unfortunate haha. Yeah the vibes were great. I think photorealism might appeal to some people but it doesn't have to be the only choice. Not to mention how we lost complexity in the process. Morrowind for example has more mechanics and nuance than skyrim. Which is wild if you think about it. I was blown away because I finished skyrim first and went downwards from there only to find out that each "new" release had cut content when compared to what was before it. I could immerse myself more in the 2002 blocky graphics just because of worldbuilding and rpg mechanics. I am very sad we lost so much of it while the technology is supposed to be advancing. People who played games back then must have been so disappointed to watch the downward spiral in real time.

Honestly I love sekiro but it's not about it not being dark souls why many from soft fans skipped it. It's because the game isn't really a RPG in the sense of dark souls or other souls likes. No character creation, No character sheet to handcraft a build and no equipment to then shape your character into something you want him play as. That being said I really recommend everyone who skipped sekiro because of the lack of RPG elements to please go and play it. Sekiro is easily a 10/10

It is. However on PC there was a recent update that added EA AC to all EA games and made the game more CPU-heavy than it already was, to the point where a friend with a i5-10th gen laptop CPU had low fps ( varying from 20 to 45) and hiccup while playing. Of course this is in multiplayer, not campaign mode. I used to play on a 4-core i5 and it ran considerably well (20 FPS with no hiccups), but after that AC update it made the game ran a lot worse. Not something i'd call playable on a potato PC

If you’re talking ab Star Wars that was kind of a remake of the old Xbox original Star Wars battlefront games which are some of my all time favorite games. Back on the Xbox original and it still had multiplayer, huge open map battles, space battles with vehicles you could fly into the enemy base to destroy their stuff, and play as Jedi/sith if you were on a streak.

It has good art design, it’s a perfect example of why art design is important in video games. It ages really because the graphics aren’t supposed to be great but the atmosphere and design created a timeless piece. It’s sort of like when they made Superbad they had them wear retro clothes and avoided making a lot of jokes about the current time period. It holds up well because it’s core pieces are timeless so your parents can enjoy it or you can enjoy it because the core story doesn’t become dated after 5 or 6 years

It also has issues with textures not always popping in. So sometimes you’d be walking on a blurry floor, or all the walls would look like colored geometry. If you sat and waited, the textures would finish loading, and then the game would look gorgeous.

**Bad Company 2** runs on any potato of today but still holds up very well graphically imo. **DOOM 2016** is an easy pick for running on anything. **Dirt2** even as an old title, used to run brilliantly on potato-tier of it's day and literally anything of today. **Factorio** is a bit of a cheat being 2.5D but still runs beautifully on an iGPU.

If we're going by today's potato standards, I'd say Skyrim. Although vanilla isn't a modern looking game anymore, I still think it looks absolutely beautiful. The art direction is semi-realistic, but it's stylized enough to be a bit timeless imo. Out of all the brilliant games I've played since Skyrim came out, there's still something unique about that game that immerses me like very few games can. It's so easy to lose yourself in that world.

Prince of Persia sands of time - its just beautiful from start to finish. The lighting, the environments, it is a fable or a story you play through and the game does capture those aesthetics perfectly. And Yuri Lowenthal is the voice actor for the prince. Gorgeous game, absolutely curtains. Braid - every frame of it looks like a beautiful painting, the art of David Hellman, so that’s an easy one. Halo CE - Some of it isn’t gorgeous, (final level for instance is ugly as fuck) but very beautiful for most of it

Warframe. I got near perfect graphics on a borrowed 660 back in 2015. It continues to age well, but it’s an MMO. If MMOs are cheating, then ZoE2 on any system you can find, even ps2. The cell shade anime style combined with the limited triangles in gameplay make the game super optimized. Combine this with rhe fact the MARS remake gave us VR over 7 years ago, and the game has become timeless.

Low-key GTA V and RDR2, they don't require that much of a PC relative to how amazing both games look. Currently playing RDR2 on a i5 3470 and it runs decent with ultra (optimized) settings, only stutters when you first load up a save then almost never again. Hook Lossless Scaling to it and you've got a gorgeous game running 60 fps on your shitty PC.
