Does anyone know if the GSG-16 is reliable and made of good materials? I was thinking of getting it as my first firearm once I get my license. Im from europe and this license only allows me .22 and shotgun calibers

Well in case your wondering 1700 is the number of rnds you can put though it before having issues. No cleaning! No oil!
nvg01556@reddit
Went for another 300 rnds after just adding oil making the rnd count 2000 for this gun. I’m going to be throwing some Tommy Enterprises parts on it then I’ll be sending another 2500 rnds down range. Hopefully I can get though it in my few off days. Maybe even do some night shoots with the new furniture

Just get a Ruger 10/22 man. Lots of aftermarket support.

I'm particularly interested because the gsg-16 allows this 110-drum magazine
MUFFINMAN13124@reddit
I have the drum, and it's a ton of fun. The only thing though, is that the gsg 16 trigger is a long, mushy pull, so you won't be unloading rounds as fast as you think you could. But for the price range, it is pretty unbeatable. just make sure you keep it clean and add some oil to it every once in a while or the bolt has trouble getting sent home.

Drum mag feeds better than most think if you load it slowly and while not leaving any space between bullets when loading(don’t let the last bullet loaded sit far below the feed lips while loading) and use CCi Mini Mags
Professional_Pie4196@reddit
I’d be shocked if that thing actually fed reliably. And it’s probably a total pain to load. The way those things usually go is you’ll go through the trouble of fully loading it exactly one time, take it to the range, get frustrated with clearing the jams every 10 or so rounds, and never use it again. These have a so-so reputation even with the factory mags (but some people love them, and I’m sure they’re very fun range toys when they work), but like others are saying you’d be a lot better off just getting a 10/22.
beesthatlikebees@reddit
This is modern day fudd lore “jus git a 10/22 sonny”, not saying your wrong but it ain’t right
Greenm6645@reddit
Mine has been as reliable as as my .22 MP5. It has been a lot of fun. The only issue is finding the ammo it likes. Mine shoots CCI Mini mag very well. Mine is the pistols version with the 9” barrel.
Arctic_pinwheels@reddit
Is the barrel threaded? I want to get a gsg-16 pistol and put a can on it but some sources say it is threaded and some do not
Greenm6645@reddit
Mine is threaded, 1/2x28.
Arctic_pinwheels@reddit
Went ahead and went in on one. Going to be here in like a week, im excited to throw a brace on it but I dont know what will fit
Arctic_pinwheels@reddit
Awesome, what stock/brace do you use?
Excellent_Mall8819@reddit
Have a GSG 522 , fun rifle
National-Finding7746@reddit
Would I be able to throw an frt on one I’m thinking about getting one td literally js to have a legal fully for fun
Immediate-Increase53@reddit
Lmk if u find out
deadwood76@reddit
It's pleasant when someone who actually owns the firearm OP is asking about vs. "I read on the internet" stuff.
Excellent_Mall8819@reddit
Yes sir , I only comment if I have a legitimate answer lol
boneshowz@reddit
These were so hot in Canada before they were banned for being "assault style"...
wlogan0402@reddit
They're reliable but arguably one of the lowest quality guns you can buy
sucrakt@reddit (OP)
What makes you say it's low quality?
beesthatlikebees@reddit
The gun is majority made of polymer and is a budget version of the 22. MP5 HK released, great rifle imo but not because it’s well built
wlogan0402@reddit
It's made of the same potmetal as all the other umarex 22lr firearms
sucrakt@reddit (OP)
It is manufactured by german sporting guns not umarex
BarrowX@reddit
GSG is the oem for many Umarex products.
wlogan0402@reddit
I'm pretty sure it's the same thing, if not the same quality
artefishall@reddit
Have one sitting at 10k rounds , not one fail. People saying they are bad probably buy expensive Glock clones lmao
artefishall@reddit
Granted I haven’t tried the drum, because most drums are a pain in any platform
