The genius of this scene: "Got a match?" 🔥

I watched this movie on VHS back in 1997, and only recently got the true genius of this line. *"One of you bastards got a match?"* *"Uhh, yeah. My butt, and your, uhh, butt. Uh-huh huh."* For some reason I always thought of this in the juvenile BnB sense, like Butt-Head's saying we could rub our butts together to make a fire via friction. (In retrospect, this sounds hilariously weird.) I recently realized that you dummy, that the *match* is, we've got a match because our butts are *the same*. **🤯** And that is why I love Mike Judge's (and writing teams') sense of humour. Chef's kiss.

Beavis didn't used to be like that though. Earlier seasons he was just as much a miscreant as butthead was and a lot of times was one of the first ones to start the fights.

Yeah, the first couple seasons before their dynamic was really established. He and Butthead were basically the same person. By the time of the first movie, though, that was no longer the case.

Beavis also being *very* happy watching the fire, kills me every time. I think they were still careful about Beavis using the "F-word" on the show, but Marilyn Manson was arguably the bigger boogieman to parents circa 1997.

Somewhere theres a version of reality where Matt Parker, Trey Stone, and Mike Judge got together and made a cartoon that was different from South Park or Beavis and Butthead, but also *better* than South Park or Beavis and Butthead.

The fire is arguably the set-up for the baked beans and the nuclear fart scene. Perhaps a camping cliche, and/or a nod to the infamous campfire scene from "Blazing Saddles," directed by Mel Brooks (1974.)

I think this is one of the most well done scenes in the movie, it kind of makes B&B situation a bit less depressing since they weren’t abandoned by both of their parents and their dads just didn’t know they had them, and it unknowingly let B&B spend time with their fathers for the first time.

Agree. Some background on our two heroes who are impressed by their elders’ experience (whether Motley Crue or scoring,) and a hint of what “older” BnB might be like in retrospect.

The whole desert segment of this movie is full of excellent scenes. Meeting their Dads, the fart and nuclear explosion, Beavis tripping balls and the White Zombie sequence, and their "last words" to Muddy (Bruce Willis.)
