Hello! I’m I disabled new prepper. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a Reliable seller on Amazon for mylar bags? There are so many sellers I feel overwhelmed.

If youre not vacuum sealing just use a hair straightener iron. Got one on sale for like $13 works like a charm.

Thank you for the tip!

You know what I read your post completely wrong. So sorry about that. I have been using Wallaby maylar bags. The 10 mil ones. They work really well and are pretty thick. You can use a vacuum sealer or a regular hot iron to seal then.
No-Job-4504@reddit
Why not regular vac seal bags
FuturePlantain49@reddit
I didn’t know 10 mil bags exist! I’ve been using 7 mil.
Outrageous_Yam_990@reddit
Says 10 mil total. Not sure if the 7 mil bags are total or each side.

I 2nd wallaby, never had an issue with quality with them

Just a note that using an oxygen absorber in your Mylar bags gives a superior package to vacuum sealing.
bobbib14@reddit
Do silica packets work? Or is there something else I don’t know about? What are your preferred brands?
Thank you!
lr99999@reddit
No, drying agents are completely different.
I bought a big order of o2 absorbers 5 years ago, and they are still fine, so no hip to todays’ inventory. A lot of people do sound like they are paying too much though.
As most of you know, ground flour is not a good long -term prep item. It goes bad. I have recently opened a few bags of ground flour in 1 gallon zipper top mylar with an oxygen absorber of the proper size, and sealed with a flat iron from the thrift store. It isn’t bad at al. It can’t
These are from H5N1 bird flu 2005. (If you ever hear about this stuff going human to human, It’s time to go full prepper mode)
Own_Cardiologist_989@reddit
You can also pick one up from Goodwill for cheaper maybe (lately they've been pricing things the same as Walmart in my area, making it a far less worthwhile trip getting used items for new item prices). I'd get one with temperature control if you can.

Wallaby or Shxwell. Both are fine but Wallaby is preferable. I like the bags with pleated bottoms so they will stand on their own.
Make sure you use good oxygen absorbers for that food which needs it. Overpack absorbers; use too many as opposed to too few.

What’s a good O2 absorber?

I’ve been using these for over a year and have absolutely zero complaints: Mylar Bags
Careless_Midnight626@reddit
Wallaby is my favorite
HighRevs21@reddit
Don't buy from Amazon, shop from direct sources if possible. That goes for everything
katr00@reddit
Just saying hi as one disabled prepper to another and as quick warning my phone auto correct wants to make me a pepper.
EverVigilant1@reddit
Wouldn't you like to be a prepper too?
TehHamburgler@reddit
I'm happy with PackFreshUSA 7mil. I use food saver so even if I don't vac, I can still use heat strip to seal.
GigabitISDN@reddit
Another vote for Pack Fresh USA. Been using them for years, no issues and high quality stuff.
livestrong2109@reddit
Just go on slick deals, setup an alert for one with 4.5+ stars goes 50%+ on sale. I've got several different brands and they're all very similar and nothing has ever gone off.
Eredani@reddit
Wallaby has the best mylar bags.
Harvest Right has the best oxygen absorbers.

Beware mice chew through Mylar bags
SlowSpeedHighDrag@reddit
I've read that placing them in those plastic totes works well to keep the mice out. Is that the case?
classycryptid@reddit
Yes that works well I kept them out on shelves and the mice got to them that way but they’re in bins now and it’s fine
jrichar@reddit
Resealable ziplock style mylar bags with oxygen absorbers for items such as grains, dried fruits, nuts, chocolate, and chips. Mylar has extremely low oxygen permeability so it is good when coupled with oxygen absorbers. Resealable with the plastic zipper so you can zip back up if you don't consume the full contents.
botanicalfox@reddit
I have used a regular iron just dont fill the bag very far and it's easier to handle/lay down
BunniesOnTheBrain@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the guidance! This very new for me.
Puzzleheaded-Ad8338@reddit
I use Wallaby mylar bags, sealer machine , and O2 absorbers.

I use PackFreshUSA. You can get 10% off with the coupon code Provident.
a22e@reddit
I have only used "We vac" brand. I have nothing to compare against, but they have always worked for me.
