mfs seriously think we're still living in the dark ages where you have to download a torrent and dont realise there are tools that will scrape torrent sites and let you stream them directly from your tv.
Don't they max out at 1080p unless you like, sign up for the sites though?
I think that's still the appeal of torrenting for some, is higher resolution
Yeah just depends on what you're using it for. There will always be some cost even if you don't go the VPN/Usenet route. Like the electricity cost for running the server.
Will still be a lot lower than paying for multiple streaming services if you want nearly every show/movie to be available to you
With Stremio you would only need to pay $3 a month to have most media at your disposal with any debrid service. No VPN, no personal server needed. It's super easy.
In the years I've been using RD, it's gone down twice, usually only for 30 minutes. Torrentio and AIO/Comet are way more likely to go down. But an alternative to RD is Easy Debrid, which is less reliable, so it's more of a backup.
Meh, I want to chime in. 6 months a go I canceled my Netflix, Disney and Appletv because I found out about Stremio and RD.
Its so fucking frustrating when it doesn't work. Especially in the weekend and during holidays its down. I do have a backup that I paid $10 for but that one is slower.
What addon are you using. I almost never have an issue, and when I do, I just switch to a different addon. I've found Torrentio to be the most unreliable.
And if you have Torrentio, did you make sure to install the Torrentio+RD addon? Regular Torrentio just streams regular torrents, they're not cached or anything.
Thanks for helping me out. Yes I have RD+ Torrentio and only use it with RD+.
Maybe because I have the Stremio app directly installed on my TV, instead of a separate box like Nvdia Shield. But even than it wouldn't make sense because it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't.
Maybe you dont want TV at primetimes (weekend and holidays)?
I currently have the *are stack setup, do you know how RD compares to something like that? Using jelly sewer to find new shows/movies, then request them and ~15 minutes later I have a 20gb 4k blueray rip that I can stream on any device using jellyfin. Is RD comparable to that? I'd guess you'd likely get worse video quality?
Oh and is it possible to selfhost RD, or am I misunderstanding how it works? Ive had a cursory look into it before but had a hard time finding concrete information about it.
Torbox was my first and has been fantastic. Also allows multiple IPs at once so you can share it with a partner or friend. 3 bux a month gets you most everything you need from them and they even keep us updated and listen to what we say on here aha
Torbox is fantastic, agreed. Wanted to go for RealDebrid, but being able to stream in multiple devices is a must-have for me.
That and EasyNews is the best combo for like 50 bucks a year.
Nope. Stremio for example just scrapes torrent sites and streams them as fast as your internet connection (and that of those whom you are mooching off of) enables
But don't you have to pay for something? I'm asking because I've never used it and I recall hearing some friends that do use it saying something about paying a marginal fee somewhere to keep using it or something
Technically, no, but:
~$10/month for vpn+debrid (~$100 for annual plans) for stremio to watch literally anything at maximum quality completely ad free all in one place
vs
$8/month for a limited and ever changing catalogue with limited quality and ads for just the lowest tier of netflix. Add higher tiers and other streaming services (and their various tiers) and you can easily spend well over $100/month and still not find that one movie you wanted to watch
No, you can still use it free, but it's a bigger chance you will end up buffering, especially for big files. You can pay for Real Debrid, which is a server host the torrent files get downloaded too. It costs 18⏠for 6 months.
I have saved so much money since I got streamio on my TV. Google has since removed streamio from its App Store so you will need to sideload it on the TV going forward
Ew, Plex. Paid shit.
I just use jellyseerr and mark movies I want to watch as wanted. Same thing as a watch list essentially, just have to go to another app.
I had this setup and then tried out stremio and was blown away, itâs like having overseer on your tv without any real wait, just have to pay $3 a month for real debrid. I still have plex as backup though.
1. Old PC or laptop you can wipe
2. Load linux (ubuntu desktop if you don't know what else)
3. Install docker (desktop)
4. Start up containers for Plex(or Jellyfin) Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr and Deluge. [More info about how](https://trash-guides.info/)
5. ??? (linux isos)
6. Reduce their profit.
Literally none of these other commenters understand the point of the post lol. Sheâs expecting you to be normal, and not have to explain some techno babble workaround to just paying $20 for netflix. Want to bang this girl? Maybe just pay for netflix and spend time talking to her instead of about your fucking Plex server
For me it is, but thatâs cus I didnât setup my plex to save money, fucking storage and setup costs plus monthly vpn alone make it a wash basically for at least a year or two or even more depending on how big you go and how much overhaul you do to your current home network for it, plus tv apps suck fat, cancerous donkey dicks for playing anything besides netflix so new tv clients, too. I did it for convenience of service. Fuck streaming ads and fuck these temporary content contracts that make you switch to a whole ass other service to continue watching whatever tf I was in the middle of and fuck low bitrate content at fake resolutions. I watch what I want, when I want, with no ad breaks, at the resolution I decide on.
No, with this setup you request what you want in a Netflix like interface on your phone and then watch it in a Netflix like interface on your tv. No browsing needed.
fr I remember downloading viruses on the family computer trying to watch Fast Five through a USB on da tv, now Iâm streaming Fallout minutes after it airs on 4K DV while Jeff Bezos cries, the future is now đ
You can download a torrent and just set it to download the First and last section, and to download sequentially. If you're not in a third world country within 30 seconds you can start watching a 2k resolution movie. Most are about 13gb so you'll download it faster than it plays.
Not to mention, why is anyone with any form of self-hosting fiddling with cables? It'll be all set up with plenty of content to watch especially if there is a Stacy on her way.
Anon isn't some kind of normie, he wanted to impress the girl with an untouched BD copy of Godard's experimental films collection from the 70s, 45 GB in size, with three seeders on Karagarga.
What the hell are 4channerd always disappointed at every post they read that they have to post fake and gay? Are there any stories that are Real and straight?
I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
Joking aside GF has come to appreciate my access to private trackers, seedbox, and 1gbps fiber. Yeah it takes like 5-10 minutes to prep a movie, but if it's not on Netflix and we want to see it then why not?
I also have my PC hardwired to my AVR and TV through a wall, so have a wireless keyboard with a trackpad, audio correction, video scaling filters to help with quality, etc.
Depends on where you want to go. Examples:
The CABAL trackers are notoriously hard to get into. You typically have to start on REDACTED then contribute a shit ton to get into movie based CABAL ones etc. I'm pretty sure they also have an invite forum for trackers that have less stringent requirements though - you'd have to contribute enough to meet whatever tracker guidelines they set (and also enough to get access to the invite forum). Think of the invite forum as official recruitment - not to be confused with a personal invite. To get started on RED you need to study for an interview, KNOW your answers, idle in the interview channel on IRC, be lucky enough to be there when they get to you cause it can be days, then pass the interview. This is how the majority get started to get into their "ideal" trackers.
Torrent Leach is good for like 99.9% of popular media. At one point you could sign-up for a Seedbox, and as long as the first check cleared you could then choose to cancel it or move to a different one. They also have open sign-ups on and off from what I remember. I recommend this for anyone that just wants a simple movie tracker for most popular stuff (very little indie/lost media). It's certainly better than most public ones - I've found movies that were basically dead on all other trackers alive here.
AnimeBytes is THE anime tracker. There's others, but it's basically the end goal if you can. Manga, light novels, music, anime, even vintage DVD ISO dumps! They have open sign-ups VERY rarely, if you're lucky enough to catch it you fill out a form/survey with questions and they decide if they think you "fit" the community or are a member they need. Having stats at other private trackers helps, and contributors are more welcome over archivists - both are needed but new content is always preferred as seeding is easy.
Watch privatetrackers sub daily to see if anyone is having open sign-ups. They will still typically ask for proof of ratio at any other tracker. Even though TL isn't super well respected I'd get that no matter what and build ratio. If you can invest a bit of time in RED that too is very good for you even if you don't do enough to get access to the invite forum.
cont.
Regarding invites:
People can invite you to trackers, but you should only do this with people you know in person and be VERY selective. CABAL says if you don't have physical contact with the person and intimately trust them (best bro since childhood for example) you shouldn't take it. Online friends are not friends to them and do not constitute an acquaintance in the traditional sense. You can (and likely will be) banned for accepting them from people online. Do not buy invites, you will definitely get banned as a matter of when not if. Be very careful to follow rules as multi-tracker bans can happen, and will happen with CABAL trackers - they share information including usernames, emails, IPs, seedboxes, geolocation - they will hunt you down and murder every account if even ONE tracker in the "group" bans you. There's also the concept of chain bans, so if the person that invites you get banned everyone in their chain below them gets banned, and yes, that can trigger a multi-tracker ban. This means a ban can actually go multiple levels down through no fault of the individual and even across sites for those CABAL affiliated.
The only way to avoid chain bans and the like? Pass REDACTED interview, contribute, get to invite forum, spread from there or be accepted via an open invite. Again, privatetrackers sub has info on webs and how to get where you can go.
THE EXCEPTION FOR INVITE/CHAIN BANS: Invite threads on invite forums. As stated before these are considered recruitment - the odds of being banned due to these is basically nill. Even if a recruiter got banned (highly unlikely) I believe consideration would come into play since it was via official approved capacity (typically admins/mods run these).
Oh, and I highly recommend using an account name different from anything else. If you express political opinions or any "hot takes" on your primary alias (one prone to reuse) make something individual for each private tracker that can't be easily linked. There's been admins/mods that have way to much time and will search aliases looking for opinions they don't like. If you're unlucky and they find a hot take or confuse you with someone else you may still get banned. Most trackers have forums that you're expected to participate in, don't spam but be very careful what substance you add because again - ban. That's probably the biggest headache of all - you're at the mercy of them.
tl;dr:
Fucking read it - mods/admins power trip and it's hardish to get in but worth it. Oh, and get a fucking seedbox as you live and die by ratio.
Goddamn sounds like a lot of work.
When I tried to get into some random private trackers on that sub, I couldn't find anything proper. Also there weren't recruiting most of the times.
How's the interview? Like an actual voice chat interview?
Link sent via chat, the interview for redacted is on IRC so typed. Do not attempt cheating by having notes or the page open. They are very sensitive to delays in answers and the pages track connections, even ones you'd think are idle.
\>ask him to put on Netflix
\>He chuckles, asks you what type of movie I'd like to watch
\>Idk some psychological thriller or something
\>While I'm answering, he suddenly pulls up a screenshare on the TV from his computer, which is in the other room and asks grok to list a couple of highly rated recent movies. (His pc is in the other room, no cables, huh? 0 lag, how even?)
\>He notices my surprise and briefly comments on how the tv is a mini-LED Android TV that you can sideload apps onto.
\>nofuckingclue.jpg
\>We decide on a couple of interesting choices, and he asks me what I'd like to drink.
\>Glass of wine
\>When he comes back, he says the movies already downloaded and ready on his "NAS"(?).
\>I ask him what he means, but he chuckles again and says it's just some "boring tech stuff".
\>He switches the TV to some kind of media app that seems to have loads of movies.
\>I suddenly hear his JBL boombox connecting
\>We watch about 5 minutes of the movie in impeccable audio and 4k video quality on his TV before his schlong is deep inside my bussy.
>My media center brings all the boys to the yard
>and they're like 'it's better than his'
>damn right, it's better than his
>I could make you one, but I'd have - to - charge
Real, gay and IT-pilled. Just how I fucking like it.
Yes, Skipper, according to my calculations, the scenario appeared to simply be fake at first but upon reaching the end it can be determined that it is, in fact, gay as well.

Haha if only it where 10mbit.
Last time I tried netflix it had like 3-4 mbit for a 1080p movie. And not even AV1, but h.264. Most non-netflix produced movies weren't even available in 4k.
It's a joke, you could YIFI at this point and get better image quality.
*Laughs in 4KUHD Remuxes via Plex Media server*
Landlubbers have no idea just how much the game has changed, streamslop and high speed Internet have ushered in a second golden age of piracy.

5 years later and I've had dates say "hey let's watch X" and they pull up there favorite pirating site.
A lot of normies are sick of subscribing to everything nowadays.
"I have amassed an enormous collection of stoner comedy films from the 2000s you will make do with that for I don't believe in Netflix making me pay for "exclusives"."

**I LIKE NETFLIX BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT**
Used a streaming site to watch Longlegs, and it gets to the part where >!The feds realize the protagonist is psychic so they start showing her film clips A Clockwork Orange-style because reasons.!< In the middle of that, the version we were watching started playing an Indian gambling site ad, and I was like, *Why would they show her this shit?*
smile 2 was an impeccable movie, thank you for the reminder to rewatch it
honestly the worst movie to have those loops because I 100% understand why youâd think they were a part of the movie đ
A mate of mine came back from a holiday in Thailand with a fake VHS of Last Action Hero that ended about half an hour short and turned into angry shouting in Thai followed by someone running away with their camera pointed at the ground.
Any time streamers or youtubers act up in Thailand, I've noticed Thai people whip out their phone cameras right away. I wonder if that was the culture before phone cameras and everyone carried around a camcorder in case shit popped off.
This when back when that movie was fresh and DVD was in the future. The friend went on holiday with his parents and came back with a bunch of bootlegs. That was one of them.
I think people everywhere get their cameras out when there's drama happening in front of them now. Either for evidence when the cops turn up or for OMG views on social media.
Reminds me of my brother in law. Dude is always trying to brag about how he can get the newest movies free on his computer, like itâs 2006 or something. Appoints himself the TV guy at every family function and we all have to sit there for half an hour while he fuck around with cables and sifts through cam rips.
*âOh this one is still just a cam, hold on let me find something else. I donât know why this one is so low res, one sec. This one has Indian subtitles baked in but itâs HD.â*
Holy shit dude move aside so I can throw up Disney plus for the kids. I pirate too but not around a room full of people, have some class. I hate him.
This is literally, unironically a Netflix psyop.
\>yeah why would you own your content bro
\>just pay us to stream it in dogshit quality bro
\>owning stuff is cringe bro
When I was in college, my roommates and I used to use my PS4 to stream from those shitty camrip sites. You know, the kind where you slightly move your cursor and a porn pop-up comes up? Well, PS4 browser didnât have pop-up blockers, so any time we wanted to watch something, we had to click through hentai ads.
So one day, my roommate invites his girlfriend overâ she invites a couple of her friends, including one who I was talking to at the timeâ for a movie night. So, I go to turn on the PS4 and the first thing that pops up were big anime titties from one of our previous movie nights. I turned beat red at that and nervously tried to explain. Surprised the girl I was talking to still ended up dating me.
If you're gonna have guests you gotta prepare.
Get a bunch of movies, put them on a flash drive, plug it into the TV, make sure they work. When you have guests, you always have something good to watch.
Anon is simply an amateur.
Nobody cares, everybody pirates at least something. Which is fine......but now we might actually be screwed.
Unfortunately we are now in a court case where Sony has sued ISP arguing that they should do a better job preventing it. The ISP's main defense is that most pirates actually use communal wifi, which is true. They can tell if a house has downloaded pirated content, but not who specifically so their defense is that it would be unfair for everyone if they restricted Internet to the house, because we all know the Internet is an essential utility nowadays.
But somehow for reasons that almost certainly involve backdoor bribery, SONY HAS BEEN WINNING.
Now the Supreme Court is the final place that gets to decide, so we'll know if we'll have internet around June this year.
Honestly it's because Sony razzled and dazzled the jury - the fact the supreme court is even willing to hear it indicates they feel it's worth examining and not just kicking back down to lower courts which is a good thing. I have a feeling that all it will take is Cox arguing that it's akin to making gun manufacturers liable for crimes, show they have a three strikes policy for reasonable mitigation in good faith, etc. They can also ask if they're going to hold AT&T, Verizon, etc. criminally liable for texts where someone buys illegal materials as well because they won't actively censor them.
It's not like Cox in uncompliant. If served a warrant they provide all details of any subscriber required. Regardless of the Supreme Court consisting of old farts, I imagine they're more competent in seeing the ramifications than the barely above room temp IQ of the average jury. The last thing I think they want to see is people suing Verizon or AT&T because of a pig butchering scam not being actively stopped as an example.
There are a million streaming sites that you can use trivially easily. Check the r/piracy megathread. I got my girlfriend into it, and she cancelled all her subscriptions
