Who else read these fuckass books?

That rape trial made me so upset as a young teen reading the book. Then I completely blanked it after I grew out of the series (and a bunch of other stuff I didn't even realize was off). Cut to twenty years later and I'm happily buying a few of the books in a used bookstore for my kiddo who's finally old enough for them and is going to love all the puns and cool dragon stuff and how there's lots of girls on adventures (the stuff I did remember). Decided to read them myself since her birthday want for another month, and enjoy the nostalgia. I could not finish any of them. Ran into seriously messed up stuff within a couple of chapters every time, flipped back and forth and found more/worse misogyny and sexualization of children all through them. And honestly, he wasn't to good with little boys either, just less horrible than he was to girls and women. I remembered there was a rape trial and looked it up on wikipedia since I didn't have that book, just in case I was misremembering. Nope, I wasn't. I burned them the next time I burned my old credit card statements. He's an awful person to be able to write stuff like that, repeatedly, for many years, aimed at children and teens. I will never believe his protestations that we just don't get his humor or that he "accidentally" sexualized underage female characters in book after book after book. I also read some of his standalone books that are completely separate from Xanth and they are also disgusting.
