Porto for a Stag do?

Wondering if anyone has been to Porto for a stag do (around 12 people), any recommendations, thoughts? We like a good drink but we’re pretty laid back and won’t be dressed up etc etc. Cheers!

Not been Porto, but Lisbon js definitely worth a look if you haven’t already booked it. Went for a 40th last year and found a bar serving €2 pints 😮‍💨

I'd say Lisbon can be good, but it's important to know going in that it is a little bit of a shithole.

Probably not a big issue for a stag, but I was offered more drugs during one week in Lisbon than I encounter in a decade in London.

Went to Lisbon and wasn't offered drugs at all, so on that basis alone not sure it's a shit hole...

I couldn’t move without being offered it that weekend. To the point where I got offered it when I was riding an e-scooter and stopped at a red light 🤣

Oh, there's quite a few other things that weren't great there, I was just using all the drug dealers as an example.

100% one of the seediest places I’ve been, but if you’re in a group you’ll be sound.

Same on the drugs though. The dealers are relentless over there.

That's because of how drugs are decriminalised in Portugal. Super common everywhere there and really not indicative of 'shithole'.

I live in Porto. From what you described I think it’d be a great choice. Do it! Also it’s much nicer than Lisbon.

Yes. Did it year before last. Was good fun!

Activities we planned were: Bridge climb Meal at a steak place in that big Timeout Market VR gaming thing Port tasting + drinks at rooftop bar at Porto Cruz

We found food overall pretty cheap. Reckon I spent about £700 Friday-Sunday on flights accom food drink etc.

I had my stag do in Porto and it was absolutely class.

We did the Cockburns winery tour (excellent); did a booze hike by the beach (also great) and the hired a yacht up the Duro. Loads and loads of great bars; places the eat etc

Bonapartes was a great bar hang out; time out market was great for multiple food options and you can even visit the most picturesque McDonald’s in the world.

Would recommend. Have a great time

I live in Portugal now and Porto is kinda chilled with loads of bars and nice places to eat. It's pretty small, at least the centre is, and walkable. Not the place to go and have a massive bender, be all shouty and tie the groom to a lampost though!

Nice city and a nice choice for a less obvious destination that is a little bit more laid back.

If you don’t want a lairy lads weekend then Porto is a great choice.

Lisbon, San Sebastián and Bilbao are also worth a look.
