What eras of house have you lived in and how do they compare?

I’ve lived in a large Victorian villa (albeit only part of it as a flat!) and now living in 1970s suburbia.
The Victorian villa had lots of character, and very airy, high ceilings, big windows - but it was freezing in winter and boiling in summer. Temperature control was very hard.
The 1970s place is much more pokey - I can almost touch the ceilings lol - but the build is solid, soundproofing is super (never hear the neighbours), and the temperature variation is a lot less. Particularly in these hot summers we keep having it’s been a cool dream!
Got me wondering what, all things considered, is the optimum build era of a British house. What have you lived in and what do you reckon?
