do we trust viagogo tickets?

Hiya so I bought two concert tickets from viagogo and it says it’ll be arriving on the day but is this real? I was thinking of selling to one of my friends and i still haven’t got the tickets to give them. Just a bit worried and want some advice?
remix_plays@reddit
ik this isn't the freshest thread however I just wanted to share my personal experience was great may last year I bought a ticket to go see chase atlantic live, it cost me a grand total of £18 for a general access ticket which originally cost £60 🤣 i may have gotten lucky however my experience was great 👍 Only complaint is I did recieve the ticket abt an hr before the show ☠️☠️
arianator_world@reddit
oh no... i would be really scared....
remix_plays@reddit
it was a bit stresfull as i got my ticket on the way to manchester but like yolo 🤷♂️
arianator_world@reddit
that's great I'm so worried tho im going to see ariana grande and i got 260 euro tickets
remix_plays@reddit
icl ari is a dodgy one looking at the controversy with the ticket cancellation and reselling etc, viagogo does have a good support team tho so u shouldn't rly worry

Got tickets indecember to Deftones in Munich for 03.02. Traveled from different cou try, stayd in Munich for 3 days -hotel, plane ticket… 03.02 arrived, but there was still no tickets in e-mail. On their website it said “ticked purchase comfirmed- awaiting tickets from organizers” (or smth like that). Then got in chat as only “helpdesk” option. Chat was, of course, bullshit Ai.. no use. Afger couple of hours, got in touch with real person. Only good thing he/she did was sent us e-mail, that they cant get tickets- we will have refund..
Sooooo fck mad.. never ever again get tickets from them.
Diwyaaa@reddit
how long it took u to get refund?
CeleryEarly4485@reddit
How did you get in touch with a real person?
arianator_world@reddit

I’ve bought Harry styles ticket from viagogo first time buyer and it’s a mobile transfer so it says few days before event I should get it, customer services say that the sellers trusted will get paid 7-8 days after I have been to the event. I’m praying I get to go the thought of someone scamming me is giving me major anxiety
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
I bought bad bunny tickets for his barcelona show in May. When I paid I swore I was on the ticketmaster site until I completed the transaction (I was an idiot and had too many tabs open), realized I was on viagogo and now I'm TERRIFIED and praying I get into this concert. Especially because I'm dragging my best friend with me and it's not a cheap flight over memorial day.
Holiday-Relative5954@reddit
Did you hear something?
Exactly the same happended to me aswell…
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
I got a notification a month or so ago saying the tickets would be delivered to me through Ticketmaster Mobile transfer so I guess and hope that’s a good sign?
False_Life7286@reddit
I'm going through the same thing, bought tickets for May but still don't have them. Have you gotten yours yet??
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
I have not! I did read that tickets don't get issued until a few days before anyway (even if you go through a ticketmaster or something). So I guess we just have to wait until 1-2 days before and see what happens (which is terrifying)!
CeleryEarly4485@reddit
Just found this thread. Did you heard any news?? I am kinda anxious about it and I hope I wasn’t scammed. Always thought that Viagogo is a safe place😭
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
I actually got an email a week ago saying my tickets were no longer valid and they gave me options to get replacement tickets in the same section. SO now, I am freaking out because I hope this doesn't happen again and that the tickets work.
CeleryEarly4485@reddit
And they had replacement tickets available in the same section? Did you manage to talk to someone? I didn’t receive any news yet, not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign…
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
Yes I did! Same section. They gave me an $11 voucher lol as if I will EVER go on their platform again. Below is what I got in the email with the subject: IMPORTANT – the e-ticket you downloaded is invalid
We wanted to inform you that the e-tickets you downloaded were incorrectly uploaded by the seller. These tickets are no longer valid and will not gain you entry to the venue! We apologise for the inconvenience, but please disregard the tickets that you have already downloaded. You will receive another email before the event date with the instructions to download a new e-ticket for the event. These new ones will be the tickets that you should take with you to the event.
Honestly, I'd take your no news as good news? I asked AI about it and it said to download spanish ticketmaster that way you can be ready with an account to access the digital tickets when they are sent and identify any issues, but of course they only send them like a day before the actual concert so gotta keep my fingers and toes crossed until then.
CeleryEarly4485@reddit
Thanks for your answer. I really do hope for the best for both of us hehe. Fingers crosseddd!!! 1/2 days before is really stressful
thelittlenewyorker@reddit
I know. I hoping for a good outcome! Let me know how it goes!

shairaiten@reddit
I’d be careful, especially for expensive international events. In my case, I paid around €2,000 for premium seats near the pitch. After prices increased, I was told there was a “problem” with the tickets and was pushed toward either a refund or much cheaper replacement seats without compensation.
What worried me most was the feeling that once higher-paying buyers appeared, original buyers became vulnerable to downgrades. For international travelers who already paid for flights and hotels, that creates huge pressure to accept inferior tickets.
SomewhereRepulsive64@reddit
I've had a good experience, just received the tickets 3h before the start of the event.
SnooGiraffes7204@reddit
Avoid, avoid, this company is a sham! My fiancé purchased us second row tickets for a very high demand event, spending over $500 altogether, which we ended up never receiving. It ruined a Christmas gift and our evening, which we planned travel/ work schedules/ etc. around, not to mention we’re very excited for.
They hide behind their “third party vendor status,” but yet are unable to deliver on tickets that are supposedly legitimate. In our case, the tickets were to be released no later than 3 hours prior to the start of the event (which should have been a red flag). Then, when they hadn’t arrived, we had to contact the customer service chat to learn that “the seller is unable to provide the tickets.” That’s it, no further explanation.
While they say they will provide you alternative options, for a high demand event like this, there were none available at all - let alone seats as good as wha we paid for.
We are still going through the process of obtaining a refund, it’s a real headache. I’m theory, they will reimburse 100% of the cost, but that does not make up for missing out on the event.
Would not recommend - buy through Stubhub or ideally through the official ticket site.
r2k-in-the-vortex@reddit
stubhub and viagogo are the same exact company.
RecentTwo544@reddit
Say this all the time - do not buy from Viagogo.
They'll probably turn up, and seem legit. They will be legit in fact.
But the seller will likely have claimed them lost, got duplicates sent out, the originals were voided, and they've sold said originals to you.
See it all the time. One event I was working on in London, Ticketmaster told me they'd turned away over 200 people who'd bought voided tickets from Viagogo.
amanda30uk@reddit
But why would they do that ? They dont get the money until after the event and thats only if the person was able to use the tickets? So they've nothing to gain from.scamming people anymore 😕
r2k-in-the-vortex@reddit
Lets say you sell tickets a month in advance for price X. Day before you have to deliver. If you can buy last minute ticket cheaper than X, then you deliver and pocket the profit. If not, then you simply don't deliver and lose nothing. You don't have to prove to viagogo that you actually have any tickets to sell, you can simply declare that you do.
Better system would be to transfer the tickets to marketplace before they can be listed, so that the seller can no longer pull a fast one.
ssd12_@reddit
How do you lose tickets which are digitally available on Ticketmaster???
RecentTwo544@reddit
TM are increasingly moving towards digital tickets for this reason. Some events still use paper tickets though, which I assume counts in OP's case given the "arriving on the day" thing.
glasgowgeg@reddit
I couldn't tell you the last time I got paper tickets from Ticketmaster, every Ticketmaster event I've been to in the last 7 or so years has been digital.
The only time I get paper tickets is via TicketWeb, which I know is owned by Ticketmaster, but never via Ticketmaster themselves.
ssd12_@reddit
AHH, Gotcha! But how to get tickets, when everything is being booked by resellers and bots? Why do Ticketmaster can't detect bots when they can detect when two tabs are open?
RecentTwo544@reddit
Insider info - Ticketmaster is utterly shambolic to the point they can't even do two onsales for large events on the same morning.
ssd12_@reddit
I sometimes feel TM had some deal with the resellers, so that they get some commission.
mayaic@reddit
I’m selling some tickets on viagogo. I can’t release the tickets until the day of or possibly 3 days before because they haven’t been sent to me yet to transfer. That’s how most shows I’ve been to within the last 3 years are, so definitely not inherently a scammer because that’s just how digital tickets are mostly now.
flowOpportunity749@reddit (OP)
Thing is it said it was going to release to me during the day of the concert but i don’t know if its real. I looked and some people said that they got scammed and i have no way of guaranteeing if its a scam or not
mayaic@reddit
It’s very hit or miss. Completely depends on the seller being honest. My sister bought tickets day of to a show and was fine. My cousin showed up to the venue with her tickets and was told they were fake.
Longjumping-Movie127@reddit
Hey! Did your cousin at least got reimbursed afterwards by the app?
arianator_world@reddit
what did she do when that happened?.....
flowOpportunity749@reddit (OP)

Ik heb tickets, maar ben bang dat ik via viagogo opgelicht wordt dat kopers aangeven dat de tickets niet goed zijn. Heb je daar weleens ervaring mee gehad?
Typical-Chard-7556@reddit
Most terrible reviews are based on the high commision fees they charge, but in the end, they are just means of providing sellers and buyers a platform for their needs
keithdbrooks@reddit
Just confirming that Viagogo was legitimate and worked for my case. I purchased standing floor tickets for a Tame Impala show in Lisbon, Portugal, in April 2026 (this month) and in January 2026 (using the PayPal pay-in-four option). My tickets arrived the day before the concert under a different person's name, but I was able to enter and have the tickets scanned without any issues, and an ID check was not necessary. The ticket was originally about 86 EUR, but I paid 133.40 EUR total to Viagogo. Just my experience!
arianator_world@reddit
sadly it is a 50/50 chance, we have no way to confirm if a seller is legit. most people get lucky google says... others don't
Remarkable-Guide-479@reddit
I have bought some tickets from them and the game date was changed and want to get a refund is that possible ?
Kat8844@reddit
I bought a ticket for Radiohead in Italy a couple of months ago off there, didn’t have any problems at all.
Primary_Discipline84@reddit
Hello! Did you receive the tickets on the same day? Or days before?
Kat8844@reddit
I got it a day or two before, QR code came though and all worked fine. It did say it could come on the day which I was nervous about but I felt a lot better when it arrived earlier than that!.
Larrie123@reddit
I hope mine will arrive like that as well im so stressed
lecf0si@reddit
I have tickets to MCR with the same "you get them on the day" scenario & I'm absolutely terrified!! I had no idea people had this many issues with ViaGogo when I bought them, and if I did, I may have looked elsewhere..
technicalhowto@reddit
It’s quite common for Viagogo tickets to show as arriving on the day because the seller doesn’t transfer them until closer to the event. A lot of people do get in fine, but it can feel stressful not having them in advance. If you’re worried, contact their customer support now so there’s a record, and pay attention to their buyer guarantee policy. Always pay by card so you’ve got chargeback protection if anything goes wrong. For future events, I’ve personally had a smoother experience using Seatpin for sold-out shows, but whichever resale platform you use, make sure it clearly guarantees valid entry.

Dec 30th I gave Viagogo $465US for Sumo wrestling in Tokyo. Was given ticket designations immediately. Then they told me they do not have my tickets and they will credit my card. IT IS NOW 75 DAYS LATER WITH NO CREDIT TO MY CARD! They have made the same excuse 4 times. “We will be escalating this to the proper department and you will get your credit. Sometimes they say 10 days, other times, 8 days. It has not happened yet! Reaching a live person by phone or chat isn’t too hard. But they Do Not follow through. Viagogo? VIA NO NO!

Had anyone ever resold tickets you bought through viagogo on viagogo? How did it work for you?

Did you manage to sell it? Any chance the buyer scam the seller by reporting the ticket couldn’t work or something?

I bought tickets for the Grand Sumo Wrestling championship in Tokyo through Viagogo for about $450 US. After ordering the 2 tix, and paying for them, Viagogo said, Sorry. We actually DO NOT have these tickets for you. They took my money on December 30th 2025. Today is February 26th, STILL NO CREDIT TO MY CREDIT CARD!

The only third party site I would ever buy from is Twickets, since they cap at face value.
If you're buying from viagogo, you're just encouraging scalpers.

It's just a marketplace. I've used it quite a lot of times with no issue, but you might get a conman.

It's a lottery they have some terrible reviews out there but other people have been fine
