I grew up out in the country. Spent a lot of time with my wrist rocket. One time I aimed at the top of a power pole. I hit something that swung downward. Went in the house to find the power was out. Mom looked at me a little funny (I probably acted suspicious) but never said anything.

Youngest brother had one in the sixties. He taught my daughter how to use it in the eighties and she has taught her two oldest to use one. My husband and I also got ours in the sixties. Used it mostly for verment when we lived in town

My uncle had a machine shop, so my dad would bring random bearings and whatnot home. One day I discovered a can of cylindrical ½” steel bearings that fucking HUMMED coming out of that slingshot. So much better than the acorns or whatever little rock I found lying around.

I found [this video thumbnail](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/6yd5hOnXLHc/maxresdefault.jpg) in Google Images to help you get a sense of the size. It's a slingshot and the weird shape is because the bottom portion is intended to be braced against your forearm so you have a more stable slingshot and greater leverage to pull the tubing back because the strength of your wrist muscles weren't the limiting factor.

I remember being quite the marksman. Ball bearings were too expensive, so I usually used "perfect" rocks. My deepest memory is of a groundhog. I think it was rabid because it was coming towards me making a weird sound. I hit it dead center on its skull and killed it, instantly, from probably 15 or 20 feet away.
