What would you do with a 10% pay rise? What about 25%?

Not a pay rise but… Backstory: I’d had 2 jobs earning approx £2500-3000 a month but became ill 5 years ago due to Ling Covid and several other health issues due to this. I’d used all my savings etc to assist with my health issues in the first couple of years (as the advice was 2 years and you’ll be back to ‘normal’) and then dropped both my hours and my agency job when I had repeated covid infections meaning I became too ill/ disabled by it. This resulted in me using all my take home money to pay essential bills and for the basics needed for my disability. Situation: Now we know research says some people like myself don’t recover and have ongoing long term health issues/ disability due to LC. But I’ve recently managed to increase my hours back up to full time (at the cost of doing almost nothing outside of work) which meant an increase of £380, followed by moving to top of my band a couple of months later meaning it increased by a further £360 in relation to what I was earning on part time hours. That in and of itself was absolutely life changing for me, going from occ not being able to afford meals &/or petrol at the end of the month, to having money for this, plus some to spend on treats as well as further items/ services I could utilise for my disability. Then a month later I was also successful at gaining PIP after a 2+yr long fight, so I also get an additional £400 to spend on the increased costs incurred due to my disabilities. Outcome: In total the money increased by around 43% in my take home pay, however far more than the £400 pip & associated backpay will be spent on items/ services related to making daily life with my disabilities easier. Overall I’ll be a lot more comfortable ie enough money coming in to start creating a small safety net and will be able to afford a better standard of living, plus more items/ services to support my disability but I’m not rich by any means.
