What is the safest system benchmark program to download and use?

I've never run any controlled performance tests on my build a few months in. I've balked at downloading any because they mostly don't come from names I recognize and I fear they may A. carry malware, or B. damage my system, based on Internet rumors. Is there such a thing as a holistic system benchmark? Failing that, what are the best known, safe GPU, CPU, and memory tests that won't bust my hardware?
