Guys who run cars for multiple 100k miles, do you routinely change the timing belt/chain?

The thing is I rather have a car with a timing belt because timing chains are failing around the same time as belts (100,000 miles or so) these days. But they cost 3 to 4 times as much to change. Most cars with chains don’t have service intervals and they most of the time ether stretch and the car starts running bad or the chain guides fail as they are plastic. Belts almost never fail inside their service interval so it’s and easy decision to get it replaced plus the water pump is replaced at the same time so those cars rarely have bad pumps ether. The only advantage to a chain is they usually get loose before they break and that saves the engine as you have to replace them before they break. But if someone is just aware of the service interval of the belt it’s cheaper in the long run and you have peace of mind. The last belt I had done a car cost me $1,000 and that included the spark plus change which is a few hundred dollars on my minivan as it’s hard to get to the back bank. That worked out to a penny a mile. Well worth it. I am worried about my newer cars with chains as they will be very expensive to service.
