I met my wife for the first time in 1998. She was the cousin of some friends. She was visiting said friends and brought her cd booklet/binder with her. We were all sitting around talking and I asked if I could see what she listened to. I'm flipping through and she had some good stuff, but then I saw it; Failure- Fantastic Planet. I immediately interrupted the conversation and asked her how she knew about Failure, as my friend and I were literally the only people I knew that knew of Failure at all. Apparently she had traded cds with a friend and just never gave it back because she liked it so much. We put the cd on and we all spent the hour just talking about music and life and everything. Now, I'll admit when I met her that first time I thought she was one of the most beautiful girls I had ever met in my life, but I had a girlfriend and she had a boyfriend, and it was just mutual music fan talk. We'd talk about music when she'd hang out, and that was it. Fast forward a little over a year later, we both had just had bad breakups, and she starts hanging around more. We became really close, like best friends, always together to the point where people thought we were dating. It was about 7-8 months of us just hanging out when it happened. One day we were sitting on a couch, and it was her turn to pick something to listen to, and she puts on Failure- Fantastic Planet. We start talking about how random it was that she had that cd, and as the conversation kept going, eventually the song "Stuck On You" came on. Like I said earlier, I already thought she was absolutely beautiful, but the second the song began it was like she started glowing, and my vision went tunnel. It seemed like the music was getting louder and louder. I knew I was in trouble, that I had caught the feels. I didn't know it at the time, but she was starting to catch the feels too. It was still probably another month or 2 so before I got the courage to act on it. I was so terrified that I couldn't use words properly anymore, so I leaned in and kissed her one night while we were talking. Imagine my surprise when this stunningly beautiful girl with a ridiculously great taste in music actually kissed me back. She told me she would have made the move eventually if I hadn't that night. Anyways, 26 years together, 21 married. She's still my best friend. We finally got to see Failure when they reunited (it's been over 10 years now), and standing next to her when those first notes of Stuck On You started was like the best kind of punch in the gut. I'm a very lucky man. Stuck On You wouldn't be what we would consider "our song", but it's the one that made me realize something was there.
