Should I go for Seasonic or Corsair when choosing a PSU?

I have a PC with an RTX 3080 and Ryzen 5 7600X. I'm looking for an 850 watt PSU, and it's between the Corsair RM850X 2024 edition, and the Seasonic Focus GX-850. Which one is the better choice?

Both are very good so it depends on the price. Corsair has a slight edge when it comes to refinement, brand recognition and build quality. If they are both priced the same I'd go for Corsair. If not Seasonic is nearly just as good. Your parts consume between 450 and 550W, so 850 is kind of an overkill. 600-650W is plenty, unless you plan to upgrade soon.

Ever heard of transient spikes ?

Both are quite good PSUs. But unless you're running a few dozen HDDs, you're looking at a system that only needs 600W or so. Why the 850W? Is the PSU just for that hardware, ie: the existing PSU died or you have the 7600X and 3080 but no PSU at all? If so, go with a 650W or 750W model.
If the intent is to get a PSU for future upgrades, then an 850W makes more sense (depending on the future upgrades).
As for which one specifically, if one is cheaper, go with that one. Otherwise it really doesn't matter.

My old PSU died, (Cooler Master MWE Gold V3 750) and I have way too many RGB fans. Probably 100 watts worth lol
And I also have a few drives, yes.

Never in all my life have I ever been let down by any Corsair PSU.
750 RM
850 RM
1000x RM
All have done me well.

I have never had a problem with any seasonic I have ever owned. Always my go to and always a very long warranty period.

Whatever ranks better here. If same, then whichever you find prettier. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1akCHL7Vhzk_EhrpIGkz8zTEvYfLDcaSpZRB6Xt6JWkc/htmlview?gid=1719706335&pli=1#
