Why are people obsessed with sunroofs?

I ended up in a car with a sunroof. It’s fine. Nice, even, when the weather is mild. I’ve long been a convertible enthusiast, really ever since my Pa and I restored a ‘67 Mustang drop top which later became my daily for a bit. It does make for a nice extra bit of wind, and I do like having the windows rolled down whenever I can. I like cruising with the nature around me able to waft in. It helps that I’m also not someone who uses the AC religiously. Maybe the best perk is the moonroof bit, which I will contend makes a nice bit of difference in terms of taming how hot the interior is in summer. That said, it’s not something I’d ever seek out or pay extra for. It’s nice, but it’s not THAT nice, especially when you pair it with potential drain line clogs and leaks, and got forbid you ever have to repair it, that headliner has to come out. Bleagh. I’d also just like to venture an opinion that something like the roll-down tailgate glass I had in my Bronco is in some ways even better than a sunroof, and that a good set of vent windows is a big help as well; neither is as bothersome as a sunroof long-term. So yeah. I have one, I like it and use it, but it’s definitely nothing I’d say is notably special or worth seeking out. If you like cruising the way I do, an actual convertible is better.
