Has B&M gotten better in the last few months? Is HomeBargains the better option?

I haven't been to a B&M in a while now, and I just wanted to hear from those of you who do go there. What is it like nowadays? Has it gotten better in the last few months? I heard it had gotten bad in the last year or two.
What about HomeBargains too? It seems to me like a copy cat of B&M!

I got lots of baby gifts, some that I had to exchange for the next size.
All the major stores were great about helping me but B&M were demanding a receipt (despite it only being an exchange) and when I said it had been a gift and didn’t feel I could ask the gift giver for the receipt and was told that’s not their fault and I could have stolen it for all they knew😳.
Needless to say I’ve never been back and never will.

Hmm, that's just the staff doing their job? No receipt, no exchange. Same in most stores nowadays. They can pull your receipts up for you if you give the date you purchased, which if it was a gift, obviously you cant. However, that's b&Ms policy, the staff dont choose to say that to you, they HAVE to, or its their job on the line. I wish ppl woulf understand that. We dont make the rules, we just abide them!

I’m sorry, you’ll have to excuse me but I can’t find where I blamed the staff for anything. I know it’s their policy and I as the customer choose not to shop there anymore. My money, my choice!

Ive stopped going. Most of the prices in mine are the same as a supermarket. It used to be worth going to do a big cleaning haul, now I just add it onto my online food shop.

I prefer Home Bargains, some B&Ms are good, but a lot seem quite scruffy and run down.

home bargains is genuinely a cheap shop, great for your toiletries etc.
B&Ms is trying to pretend its a budget shop, but if you actually look at the prices there is nothing good about it.

Still a bit shit, they are trying to focus on going back to their roots, shit you want at low prices.

They have a new board I’m sure? Wanting to make the stock buying approach a bit more coherent

Its a branch lottery imo
Our small home bargains seems to stock more variety than our retail park sized one
Likewise we have 3 retail park b&ms yet the small town centre one seems to have more
Also my in laws live by a b&m that doesnt even sell booze!?
