Comedy Central was behind the reboot. It was meant to originally air on the network to begin with. Viacom wanted to bring in subscribers for Paramount+ thus the reason the first two seasons played there first, not to mention the success of the movie, “Do the Universe.” For season three, Paramount+ now had its subscribers, and Beavis and Butt-Head finally aired on the network that was responsible for bringing it back. It should also be noted that a ton of new commissioned shows that were meant to air on one of Viacom’s networks ended up going straight to Paramount+ around the same time as the B&B reboot’s first two seasons.

Bottom line, it was originally meant to air on cable first.

I’m sure it will go to streaming but streaming won’t get it before Comedy Central does. Not having first airing of the episodes cost CC money. I wouldn’t be surprised if Viacom made a special deal with them for the first two seasons promising that subsequent seasons would get exclusive release through Comedy Central. CC probably wants to do what Paramount+ did which is force people to buy CC (subscribe to cable) to watch the show.

It's weird what they did because it was always the plan to eventually go to Comedy Central. This was spoke of couple decades ago because Viacom is the parent company of a majority which both MTV and Comedy Central are part of. They did show season 1 and 2 on TV at least a year or 2 after being on Paramount+.....
