Would you consider this on pavement parking, or is pavement the concrete line?

I'm guessing over the years the pavement has been extended to possible include a cycle lane? The driver has parked on the pavement next to a bus stop. Totally "I'm the most important person in the world" attitude

Don’t think so it’s just super wide. It’s a 1930s development

I've seen people's cars being lifted by council lorries for less. Parking in the pedestrian area of a bus stop is feral behaviour, regardless of how busy the bus is. Move your car.

Holy fuck. That is absolutely pavement parking and I'm amazed the council don't kick off.

MichaelBealesBurner@reddit (OP)

Why would they kick off? The pavement is at least 2.5 cars wide and there’s basically no public transport as it’s town not a city

In my city pavement parking is illegal. Also parking right next to the bus stoo is a dick move.

Flowers330@reddit

It looks like it could even be designed for parking. But is that not a bus stop? So there is public transport if so

quite a lot of 'illegal' driveways there with no dropped curbs which 'technically' means they're driving over the 'pavement' to park

You're allowed to drive on the pavement to gain access to a property. [Highway Code rule 145](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/general-rules-techniques-and-advice-for-all-drivers-and-riders-103-to-158#rule145)

'Lawful access'. I don't think a driveway without a dropped curb is lawful, otherwise why would anyone pay the council to have one?

I love how the bin has rotated around the post throughout the years. To me, it’s off road parking, but not on the pavement.

Common sense situation I think. City folk and Londoners with amazing public transport would argue its pavement even tough would of been better if they just kept a narrower pavement and park on road parking even

Are there usually bus stop signs in the middle of the road? Or are they on the pavement?
View on Reddit #76034073

JonTravel@reddit

The bus stop isn't in the middle of the road. The paved area has been extended. You can see the keep to the left of the bus stop.

chiefgareth@reddit

Exactly my point.
View on Reddit #76034327

JonTravel@reddit

So the bus stop is at the edge of the pavement (along with the bin next to it.

JonTravel@reddit

The road is to the left of the bus stop. The car is in the pavement, not the road. So the bus stop is at the edge of the pavement, not in the middle of the road.

That’s what I’m saying !!

Pockysocks@reddit

The signage and bin would suggest pavement parking but it's not like any pavement I've ever seen.

I posted this as I think it’s a good example of why I think it’s idiotic to straight up say blanket ban on all pavement parking. This doesn’t affect anyone negatively as there’s still ample room for everyone to get through. They made the pavement so big it makes on the road parking nonsensical
View on Reddit #76035057

evenstevens280@reddit

Considering there's a bus stop there, yes.

Immediate_Machine_92@reddit

If the concrete line is the edge of the pavement, then the streetlights and litter bin are in the middle of the road. I can't see a reasonable way to argue that this isn't just a very wide pavement. I think you could argue that you're not 'obstructing' the pavement to any likely pedestrian, wheelchair user, pushchair etc, because the gap is so wide, but equally you've driven on the pavement to get to where you're parked, which is not allowed.

seadoubleyou73@reddit

Wheelchair users and buggies can get past, he's not blocking any of the driveways and he's provided a handy seating area for the bus users 10/10 parking

Technically I would class it as pavement parking but not necessarily in a bad way. You can fit a tank through there so I don’t see the harm done. Unfortunately may houses and infrastructure in the UK were built before many houses had cars, whereas now many houses have 2-3 cars it’s an unavoidable situation.

Sudden_Accountant762@reddit

Looks like a road to me.
View on Reddit #76033561

heartthump@reddit

I guess it could be considered on the pavement, especially since there is a bus stop sign and bin right on the edge of the road next to where the car is parked

bee-sting@reddit

Personally no its not pavement parking. I think if someone using a wheelchair can get past you're fine.
