Do NOT have this shipped to your house unless you own your own forklift. These get shipped by semi truck and the driver/delivery person is NOT responsible to help unload these, nor do they typically have the equipment in the trailer to unload these.
Lay it down, slowly slide it off the back and lean it towards the ground as it's sliding. I've unloaded multiple save setup trucks and trailers this way. However not exactly a semi trailer.
They will take it off the truck. They have a lift on the back for lowering pallets. I have purchased many many things that arrive in the back of a semi. No one has ever had an issue with putting it on the ground for me lol.
Must be a regional thing.
When my buddy had his safe delivered, he was fucked. There was no way to get it off the semi. He had to take the loss. Another guy also commented that he had to leave work and get his tractor to unload the safe.
When I bought my safe, I made sure to do it local, so they would load it onto my own trailer that tilts.
The other comment says the full size semi couldn't fit down their driveway, not that they wouldn't unload it. It's not delivered until it's off the truck. It's 100% reasonable for them to take it off the truck and leave it in your driveway for you to deal with though. I would have done a credit card cargeback if they wouldn't lower it off the truck and I had no options. No way in hell would I take that loss.
I got my 373lbs safe in my house with a dolly I bought from a u haul store. Has the tires with a valve stem on them. I’d probably have some 2x4 ramps to help get it into the house though.
If its on the ground, yes, a dolly is all you need.
But a semi trailer is usually 5ft off the ground. How would you get it out of the trailer in the first place?
Menards was blowing out some larger safes for good deals a couple years ago, but I had to go to one almost 2 hours away to find one in stock. This one was ~700lbs. Called a few locksmith companies that sell and install safes.
They had me drop the safe off at their shop so they could tow it to the house on a special dolly, and had me build OSB covers for my stair treads (so their cart wouldn’t bullnose on them).
They charged like $600, which isn’t cheap… but it didn’t look like an easy job. (Landing wasn’t big enough for some of their other equipment, so they basically muscled it in on a heavy duty cart).
I ordered an 842lb safe a few months ago. Paid extra for box truck delivery to door. Company shipped it in a full size semi. Got a call from the driver that he couldn’t fit down my road. I had to drive home from work, get my tractor out (FEL with forks), and drive 1/2 a mile to a local church to fork it out of the back of a semi. I told the driver when he called I couldn’t get there for an hour and a half. He said that was great because he gets paid by the hour. Back side of it was scraped up, but I had ordered it for a built in install, so I took it. It was a very irritating experience, but it’s over now and all is well.
When I got a 36er delivered from Tractor Supply (same set up with a semi) my driver was more than happy to roll it into my garage with his jack for a $20
**TLDR - It's better than a cabinet or nothing at all, and only if you absolutely cannot swing a couple hundred more for something made out of 12gauge steel and with a better locking mechanism.**
So I went and picked one up from my local Menards, to replace a Stack-On 18-gun storage cabinet. The safe has a slightly larger footprint, so space didn't increase by much, but I can better fit/organize my rifles and shotguns in it which is nice. Although it is a cheap safe that I believe is made in China with probably exaggerated fire ratings, better than a thin metal cabinet.
The interior panel of the door with the 10 handgun holsters...not that great, this was probably the primary selling point for me and it's sorely disappointing. Unless all your guns are single stack compacts, you're going to have fitment issues. The holsters are small and close together. I couldn't have certain handguns next to each other, or above/below each other. Fatter handguns, like the raging judge, won't fit at all without risk of tearing the threads holding the holster to the panel.
The upper shelf they include has a small cutout to allow a couple longer rifles to stick up through it. This allows you to run that shelf lower even if you have a couple old mosins or mausers, at the cost of a little shelf space.
Did not use the small shelves at all, but may add one towards the bottom of one side since ARs are shorter and having a little stash space at the bottom would be nice for random odds and ends like parts for a few surplus rifles, couple handgun holsters, paperwork/manuals, etc...freeing up the top shelf for other stuff.
It does have the less desirable digital+backup key lock setup, and I don't think it's the standard mounting footprint many other safes have. I tried to do a little digging on if the lock setup could be replaced with something better, but didn't have the time to go down that rabbit hole and confirm...plus it probably wouldn't be cost effective on a $400 safe that is made out of 14gauge steel.
Just picked mine up yesterday and I am happy with it. I’ve been waiting for a good deal on a safe for a while now and this was the best deal I have seen. I’d say it compares to the Winchester 26 Long Gun Safe which is more expensive even on Black Friday. Going to use the $30 rebate for their SnapSafe version of the Golden Rod.
You could add one yourself, I know there are kits. I plan on just getting a rechargeable dehumidifier or two now. Safe is definitely the best deal I’ve seen in a while
I moved to St. Louis in 2015. Schmucks sucks so hard that it makes Dierbergs almost look less ass. I have to buy my food at Costco and Fresh Thyme.

Admittedly they don’t have the big “name brands” in everything. I used to buy Kohler toilets, for instance, at HD during weeks Menards had 11% back because HD matched it. Sad they quit that.
Anyways, got my cheap gun cabinet at a Menards grand opening for $50.

I used to hate Menards and was a Home depot guy but the home depot prices quality and staff are all so shitty no I've switched to menards. Lowe's has always been the hardware store for people who aren't doing actual heavy work, like youtube "makers" who play with resin in impossibly clean garages.
Appliance dolly would handle it. Harbor Freight sells one I think. A couple of dudes and those lift straps might work as well. Before moving, open the door to 90\* and lift it up off the hinges first, that removes about 75lbs. Don't lose the pins or the dress caps from the hinges.

If the budget is <$400, there won't be another safe that comes close. This competes with $600 safes imo
I didn’t weigh it, but it’s probably close to 75lbs alone. I don’t know that the entire safe weighs as much as listed either. Also, I’d say safe is comparable to similar sized stuff selling in the under $800 range too.
It’s decent picked one up the other day, for the price it’s pretty comparable to most options I saw around 500-550. The pistol slots in the door are pretty tight and the included shelves/rack leave a bit to be desired but all things considered I’m happy with the purchase, just look it over before you purchase and check the feet.
Yes, the 699.99 one def is bigger. That one is 23.12 cu ft as apposed to 15.05
But the menards one is approx $24.59 / cu ft
The costco 699.99 one is about $30.28 / cu ft

If you live nearby, rent the pickup, drive round back, and have em load you up. Cost maybe $30. You will want a cart to plop it on to get it any appreciable distance from where you unload it. I would have passed if I had stairs to deal with.
Okay. I just got done setting her up. You will want to bolt her down or store some ammo near the back of it. Door weighs a bunch and feels like it could make you a statistic with how it leans.
You may also want help or some boards ready to slide under it if you're taking off the feet. They're 5/8 bolts.
Not actually a fan of the pistol pouches on the door, mostly because most of mine barely fit. Overall, fits my needs.
