Supercars aren't defined by performance metrics or comparisons. A Diablo is absolutely a supercar but there are plenty of today's entry sports cars that would run circles around it.

There is a difference between a super car getting beat by its contemporaries and new cars. An Ecotec Cylinder Camaro probably beat a Muria. Not a 70s Inline 6 Camaro.

There is no difference. Supercars are not defined by performance metrics. I understand the point you're making, but it's not the point. A 2015 Huracan LP-580 or 610 and a 2015 Corvette Z06 are almost identical performance year for year. One is a supercar, one isn't.

Yeah, the Z06 is fast. So is a tuned Mustang. Speed alone doesn’t make a supercar. The R8 is a supercar that normal people can afford used. The C8 is a normal car that wants to be a supercar. My car shares DNA with Lamborghini. Yours shares parts with a Chevy Traverse. And in Dallas I see 20 C8s a day. they’re basic traffic. An R8 of any year still turns heads. We’re not the same.

I would put it more into the sports category. I kinda put it in the NSX catagory but not as dead reliable. Close to a supercar but much more useable to be one really. True super cars don't get used. Most Lamborghini countach owners have less miles on a 40 to 50!year old car than I have on my daily that is not out of warranty yet. I had a friend buy one years ago with the front suspension crack problems. He got it for a song as a totaled car but it covered real miles before that. Fun cars really. Starting to go back up from the bottom of the curve so buy the best one you can and you should be good.

Makes no sense! Personally, I would say that R8 is right on the line between sports car and super car. Could go either way. But it's all subjective and literally carries no meaning, so who cares. The manual v8 R8 is absolutely one of the cars I plan on owning in the next 5 years. It's an incredible machine.
