Is 750w enough for my build?

Im building a pc with a 7 7800X3D and RTX 5070. My cousin gifted me a Corsair RM750e he wasn't using. psu calculators say 750W is enough for the total wattage, but I’m specifically worried about the spikes and stuff. is the RM750e solid enough to handle this build or do you guys have any other psu recommendations I should get instead?

I'd be more worried if it's an older version of the RM750e that doesn't have native 12pwr connector support, although the 5070 isn't quite as problematic regarding melting power connectors vs the 4090/5090.

The sales guy I had at microcenter hooked me up; I just built my first PC a couple weeks ago. My PSU has gen 5 support so I don't have to use the pigtail from there to the GPU. Mine is 850w, 7800X3D/5070ti for reference.

Good PSUs can handle spikes much higher than their given wattage. If that weren't the case everyone would have to get a 1000w PSU.

It's borderline, but with a little tweaking like undervolting your 5070 a bit, should be plenty. I wouldn't even worry about that until you notice a problem.

I will be going for this same build and my advice is if you already want corsair, to go for RM850x. But since that one was gifted, it is literally minimum for that build.

YES 5800X3D + 5070 here , with 64Gb RAM, about 8 case fans and 8 HDD. running on the RM750 and very comfy, still lots of headroom on wattage . the AM5 platform and 7800X3d wouldnt really make any much dent difference

I have 5070 and 9800x3d with 850. I think you will be fine cuz both of them at max wattage usage will be 400, you will have extra 350 for the fans and the cooler.

You should be fine. If I was buying my own parts I’d probably go for an 850W PSU just so I had room to grow, but for a freebie you did pretty good
